@cox_tom I decided to cancel my AOL subscription as it didn't work on my Mac. Did it during my work lunch hour. I held my nerve as they passed me on to many different people begging me to stay and offering me the world. 1&1/2 hrs later I succeeded. I had applause from work colleagues!

@choomnice If they are both single, then what is the issue? I’ve been a Yang Zi fan since the AOL, and I always want her to be happy. It’s sad she can’t even be free in her own private space, and there are those bringing her down by throwing malice on what can easily happen between friends.

@DavidblogerICBW We were still learning so much about email and the Internet back then; heck, the government didn't even have servers set up during Powell's tenure. If I remember correctly, he used an AOL email address because of that. The government was slow to get on that bandwagon.

@CatieOsaurus Two types of kids: those who make a cool curtain with AOL discs and those who get into disc fights with their friends, throwing them at each other and pretending they’re the bad guy in the Dolph Lundgren movie I Come in Peace

Least likely: Sure, AOL fought. But they lost. Most likely: No packaged internet portal gaming service ended up doing well in the long run. All of them failed and the open model of the internet won.

@MiamiMoleMan On the flip side my kids will never know the horror of having their parents read the transcripts with someone from AOL support explaining why we are banned
