Apple MLX + NVIDIA RTX Spark laptops + rapidly improving open weights = the mainframe-to-PC transition, happening in real time. Open-source AI will do to Frontier Labs what the open internet did to AOL. History doesn't always repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes. The only question is how long you keep building on someone else's infrastructure before you start owning yours.
