@dj_soubise @THEOILLUMINATI @ByYourLogic ironically AOL is now a free service lol

  • reiley Allie (@reiley) reported

Facebook going up in smoke might just boot a lot of old people offline who were never inoculated against being in the armpit of the internet. Like AOL going away, they wouldn't have "The Internet" anymore. I'm counting beans on the abacus to learn the moral value of this outcome.

  • studiocyen 🌦💙Cyen💙🌦 (@studiocyen) reported

@HistoryofHyrule AoL was the first Zelda game I played so I didn't think it was "bad" because there only two games in that series. Even now I don't think it's bad. It's just different. AoL was hard though so I never finished it, hahaha.

  • codeglitch CodeGlitch 🐺💙 (@codeglitch) reported

@DonCryptoDraper Probably Ftx is selling what isnt locked, aol gets backlash from ftx as well, as if the uptime wasn’t a issue

  • TedInJest TedInJest (@TedInJest) reported

I’d send 350,000 emails to subscribers at 4:00 AM every day back in 1997 using AOL. The “To” field took 1,000 email addresses. BCC’d them. 350 copy-and-pastes to queue them. It would take 30 minutes. Then one click to send. They’d all opted in, so never got TOS’d.

  • lovepeace3124 shostoprokofiev (@lovepeace3124) reported

@LouiseMensch @MuellerSheWrote @NicMangini we will all survive. We all had AOL accounts and then RR email then out cable companies' now GMAIL (which I actually things sucks, the interface is awful)

  • NadasisSadan Nadas 🐀 (@NadasisSadan) reported

@BewareOfMaya I'm new to what, mate? I've been on the internet with BBS's on DOS with a 386 since I was a kiddo. AOL is stupid new tech to me, bud.

  • HistoryofHyrule History of Hyrule ♿✊🏿🏳️‍⚧️🏞️ (@HistoryofHyrule) reported

@OldGameMags I love this because people in the late 90's and onward started to say AoL was some awful game that fans hated from the moment it was released: and it really wasn't. I was too young to be good at it but it definitely wasn't a bad game

  • gravitygrave_ still here? (@gravitygrave_) reported

adulthood sucks but at least i stopped caring whether i was listening to ~cool~ stuff lmao. god i was insufferable in my teens and college!! like pretentious music snobbery honed from being on too many AOL message boards when i first got the internet 😭

  • SamElli26207958 Sam Elliott's 'Tache💙 (@SamElli26207958) reported

@elonmusk Why buy something popular that works and then ruin it? I get that AOL type corporations do it, as they are slow and always behind. They don't care as long as noone else has it. But you Elon?
