If you think Twitter is an eternal institution that will never go away no matter what happens to it's ownership, I have some AOL CDs and a Napster subscription to sell you.

@lori_socal No, SDSU computers, and private Unix systems. I've actually never used AOL. Back then it was mostly USENet and random other stuff like that.

@RR_Brody I never had AOL, I think that was more an American thing? My glory days were irc and icq

@AuntyDonnaBoys What a stupid, idiotic thing to post. Seriously you could have got Netscape for 16c a share and spent the balance buying Ask Jeeves. Hell they’d probably chuck in AOL if you asked nicely

You ever randomly think of someone you used to know from the AOL chat rooms? Someone whose real name you probably never knew, but you talked to them regularly for weeks/months? Never knowing that one day, they'd exit the chat and that was the last time you'd ever speak to them?

@Bankaj10 @cinnabar_dust @kumar_uk_ Any substantial proof to support your accusations that AOL Guru only caters to the rich?

@ItsTheBrandi A few years ago I dusted off my old MySpace username and password - which I was apparently still using as recently as 2014 - and they didn't work. AOL deleted all my old accounts after I didn't sign in for a few years. I think a lot of social media sites purge after a while.

I'm going to start writing fanfic where myspace and Facebook started as stand alone portals like old-school aol and didn't use the internet. So the internet didn't get invaded by the main stream population. The internet stayed information and not monitized garbage. Dreams.

@SimuLiu If I had Musk money, I'd be funding The Expanse seasons 7-9, a 4hr Denis Villeneuve take on Rendezvous With Rama, and a new Stargate series. And I'd buy AOL Messenger instead of Twitter for shits and giggles. Oh, and feed the poor. But I feel like that SHOULD be a no brainer?

@realSatbirSingh @elonmusk @Twitter Just don't get the hype about people losing their mind over Musk buying out twitter. Either I'm missing the whole hype behind Twitter or people are relying way too much over SM. I thought my addiction of msn chat & AOL messenger back in the day was bad..
