@w1tch_d0kt0r I remember the first time I came across that crap. Some guy accidentally sent it to me via AOL chat. I ended up reporting him which probably went no where back then but I also destroyed his OS. And other things lol

@avbanig Crap, I remember recording songs off the radio on one of these. Then, using Napster, one song took like 3 hours on the AOL dial-up.

@daphnehk But because they were at the table with Progidy & AOL when this law was written, they were complicit. The @eff and its radical libertarian/utopian ideology that was big at its founding screwed this up royally. And they will never admit to their mistake. Too much rep. at stake.

@itstylersays Yo I been here since 14.4k modem on aol. Was the vest **** ever bc it was the only thing we ever knew. Since it worked via a home phone line usually if someone picked up the phone it was all over. If you had a teenage sister it was rough

@Ryan17654046 @daphnehk They are not judging the wisdom, but rather trying to navigate the doublespeak. If you want to talk about courts legislating from the bench, talk about Zeran. Possibly one of the worst opinions I have ever read. Read the dissent in Doe v. AOL for a real evisceration of Zeran.

@itstylersays Chat rooms were part of AOL that encouraged talk and there were all kinds. Local teens, adults, car people, singles, sports, etc...all had their respective chat rooms with like a 25 person limit or some ****. So then like a duplicate channel would open.
