@DidymusBrush @YouTube Can you link it in Google admin panel? If you’re known to Google there, it may help you. Having an expired aol account would be a reasonable reason for leniency.

@RichRautenstra1 @SeanOhhhh Live moderation is not as good as it was. I worked behind the scenes moderating online discussion (starting in the AOL days). I'm retired now, but the concept seems to be that if something offends you, block it. I'm not a fan of that. This needed to come down ASAP and cops called

I still sometimes come across people who think that AI is a bad search engine that makes bad text and bad pictures, which is kind of like looking at the internet in 1997 and think it’s about AOL chat rooms. – Benedict Evans

@airtable raised at $11.7B in December 2021. This morning it agreed to be acquired by Bending Spoons at roughly $2.25B equity value, about 80% off the peak. Everyone's reading that as a collapse. It isn't. Airtable does ~$480M in ARR, growing 20%+ a year, across 500,000 organizations including 80% of the Fortune 100. If you described that business to someone without telling them the funding history, they'd call it excellent. So the company didn't fail. The 2021 price failed. And I think there's something worth taking from that if you're building right now. For about a decade, the scoreboard was the valuation. It was the thing that got tweeted, the thing that got you on the podcast, the thing that made you feel like you were winning. And it turned out to be the single most reversible number in the whole business. Revenue doesn't get revised down 80% by a change in interest rates. Paper does. Nobody is handing out 2021 valuations in 2026. That's not the loss it sounds like. It just means the only number left worth chasing is the one that was always real. Also worth watching: Bending Spoons has now bought AOL, Eventbrite and Airtable inside seven months. Somebody has noticed there's a whole generation of good software companies stranded above their last round, and has built an acquisition machine pointed directly at them.

@chrishansen @RealSchlep There is this sick narrative going around because of this stupid new movie. When TCAP came out it was a much needed awareness as a victim of AOL predators I know your show raised much needed awareness. All these sick comments going on show that your work is still needed.

@Jason Computer from the Home Shopping Network in 1995. Pentium 166Mhz, 16MB Ram, 2.1GB HDD, 28.8kbps dial up and of course, AOL. Probably a Packard Bell but no idea.

@KieranWrites $$$ and the fact YouTube still gets more content uploaded in 10 mins than you can watch in a year means it's pretty much impossible to compete. The real issue is DMCA is from 1999. Internet has changed from the AOL free Internet disc days.
