@CincinnatiPhil If it was in the alt.* hierarchy it was a real crapshoot, but this was before “Eternal September’ (when AOL went on the Internet) so it exceeded FBook on its worst day. Tim Berniers-Lee & Marc Anderson both made their initial announcements on Usenet.

@AureiaHoss 88 here, and we were poor and living in rural PA. I was in my late teens when I scraped together an old AMD system with a dialup modem, and fed it the free trials for aol and EarthLink to get on the internet. I didn't have broadband and a social media presence until my 20's lol
