@TubunMuzuru @nazgul Remember AOL and those bazillions of installer CDs they sent everyone? Those were accounted as capex … which is not GAAP kosher. Got 'em in trouble some years later: had to restate some financial reports. "We're just building our infrastructure!"

@KaylaChowShow Watching AOL dial through 15 or 20 phone numbers getting busy signal after busy signal before finally connecting. Then getting a ridiculous phone bill because it was only able to connect after dialing a long distance number.

@southtacoma This is what dying companies do. AOL famously refused to let people cancel, failed to cancel, continued to take direct withdrawals from checking accounts after cancellation, refused to refund. They didn't care about customer service, they were squeezing every last drop.

Finally closed my @AOL account of many many years, though I haven't been using it much. I found out it's now owned by @verizonmedia & there is NO customer support now unless you pay for it, including even trying to report/forward a pretty nasty phishing email. #nobodyhome @FTC
