  • shawnfury Shawn Fury (@shawnfury) reported

@SisterLunaL I'm on a Yahoo group for longtime Inwood folks and now Yahoo has shut down all their groups so emails were sent around telling people to sign up for the new Google Group for it. Never seen so many AOL email addresses gathered in one spot as the reply-alls rolled in.

  • mlanger ოarῐa ᥨaῃ𝙜әr 🚁 😷 🇺🇸 🌵 (@mlanger) reported

@jaldous @BWJones Yeah, I know. It was competing with AOL. I actually ran a tech support "land" (or whatever they called it) back then. The service nickname was "emptyWorld." But do you really think Apple wants to take the risk of trying again? Especially with so many Apple haters out there?

  • TheBrofucius Brofucius: The Meanie Head. (@TheBrofucius) reported

@CatGee1989 Never forget the time my sister got an AOL instant Message “ I have Wonton lust for You.” Kim Responded : So You want to put me in a giant bowl of soup?

  • untappedgrowth Untapped Growth (@untappedgrowth) reported

@blockofgenesis @Xentagz @lisaabramowicz1 But the communication protocol layer ALWAYS ossifies due to the network effects. Bitcoin is not AOL, it is the internet. It is TCP/IP

  • clb481 Dr. Truth seeker (@clb481) reported

@GeorgenewsOrg Thankfully I never left AOL for email

  • daBookdragon Bookdragon In Solitary (@daBookdragon) reported

@Krystar13 I have been bookdragon online since AOL in '95 and have never used my image online or allowed family/ friends to post & tag my image. I do not allow a bunch of strangers in my home IRL, why would I virtually? We had it right back in the day, remain anonymous people are crazy.

  • ReallyRisu Risu (@ReallyRisu) reported

@GhaspeyVO Yeah you had to pay for the entire AOL service and got a couple email addresses w it which were then also your chat room and IM screen names. AIM didn’t exist as a separate program yet. This was back when you’d get the free trial CD-ROMs in the mail or at grocery stores lol

  • VictoriaRage Seattle Dominatrix : Domina Victoria Rage (@VictoriaRage) reported

@medboyUK AOL? Oh that's fantastic - never change
