@ifandbut01 @ThatEnglishGent @LoreReloaded @SpacedockHQ @MccabeAlasdair @EckhartsLadder No, but the FidoNet BBS's did. We also had Prodigy, and AOL. Some smaller ones as well. There has always been debate. Never has it been so bad. I remember there being a lot of hate for Voyager. Hate for DS9. The hate because, or over (neutrality sake) STD, imo is overwhelming!

In retrospect, AOL had started its slide into oblivion a few moths prior, but you will never convince me that wasn’t the day it signed it’s death warrant. Because we weren’t the only team that was fired like that. At least a half dozen other teams were gutted too, maybe more.

@NFLonPrime THIS 👏🏽 IS 👏🏽SO👏🏽*******👏🏽GHETTO👏🏽. Reminds me of @AOL dial up. But at least I have some nice childhood memories of AOL. NFL needs to cancel this contract now. It’s gone on far too long. #NFL #TNFonPrime

@BillSimmons It’s going to be as stupid and easy as when the internet first came out. We’re regressing to AOL chat rooms

@ThatEricAlper I don’t know. Roger Ebert, Peter Noone. I spoke to Ringo Starr a few decades ago on AOL when he ran a small group discussion. People were pretty rude, but I did get to talk to him a little bit.

It's not the first time I see this happening - remember AOL Forums? IRC? Geocities? Myspace? Skyblog? MSN? Internet users are nomadic by nature but this time is a bit different: we're not moving because we found a nicer place, we're moving because an idiot set fire the village.

@elonmusk The problem is that you are trying to rebuild AOL without offering us AOL. We know we are the product. I am okay with that. It is how broadcast television works.

@Angry_Staffer When I worked at AOL, they did a layoff like this. They disabled the Email of those on the list. They didn’t even bother to send an Email to a personal Email. People came in and couldn’t access their Email or the network. That’s how they found out. It was cruel.

@susaninseattle1 Yeah those were heady days. I was also involved with the first mobile ad network. That co became Millennial Media, and then they were bought by AOL
