@TheNotoriousLEX My memories of that race is mostly being in AOL chat rooms with people screaming at each other about steroids and Chip Caray with the worst HR call in history when McGwire broke the record. I don't want a documentary to color my experience.

Please update your app. It’s AOL dial up type slow @ShopifySupport. It literally crashes every 3 commands. Also, it would behoove you to make it an option to be able to print labels/ packing slips in bulk as opposed to which day they’re purchased Printing shouldn’t be a hassle

Geez @verizon I pay $330/month for 6 devices on a family plan, and I can only use my jetpack for approximately two weeks of normal internet usage, and then you slow me down to pre-AOL dial-up speeds. Just hate this. That's not fair at all.

It died because the guy who made it worked for AOL and he had developed part of it on company time or something. So they took it from him and shuttered it. Overnight. It was replaced with fic. ly or something like that. But there were some differences & it never regained steam.

People comparing Mastodon to using email w/ different servers. Giving me customer service flashbacks when I did email support looooong time ago & AOL users didn't know their complete email addresses, just their screen name. If you got an incomplete email, usually AOL.

Folks paid for @AOL when it was one of the most popular Internet services. We stopped paying and got a lot of polluted crap!

@antiorario Might be the worst examples you could have picked. People don’t *choose* email providers, there are millions using their AOL accounts in 2022. And not only is phone service a necessity, but it is an industry that lovbies to stay hard-to-use and would fail any satisfaction survey.
