@AcesArosEnbies I had friends hacking into servers in the 80s just to play roleplaying games, but wasn't involved myself. I'm more familiar with aol chat room/Usenet years. Even by the early 2000s, everyone was still looking for connection & support, not self-promotion.

  • byChadManDan Chadmandan (@byChadManDan) reported

@DoodhwalaDaily 100% Web2 folk are so slow....slower than my AOL dial up connection

  • Ninjabuttocks June (@Ninjabuttocks) reported

The only things I’ve been banned from a site for doing are when I posted poetry to the wrong part of a site and refused to stop, and in like 2003 when I first went on a computer (that I remember) I went on an aol chat room and someone said “****” and I repeated them and got kickd

  • DesignatedSally Sirap (@DesignatedSally) reported

@JenArtsu I totally understand. I spent 2 1/2 years talking to my husband on AOL in instant messaging and then half a year on phone calls. Once they’re with you in person, you never want to let them go.

  • ldsbroken . (@ldsbroken) reported

If I'm tweeting about one topic that isn't related to a world tragedy at the time, that doesn't mean I'm not aware or doing what I can to help. Humans have the ability to care about multiple things at once. No one signed up to be screamed at to care like an AOL chain email.

@rileybbq @toddlerboi The two of you are classics from an era gen z’s will never quite grasp. The Internet was new, the options were so limited,… your blogs were my first means of reading about individual stories rather than being stuck on DPF or AOL private rooms
