@RWPUSA @AOL He would love that type of power; what greedy narcissist wouldn't! However, to turn this country from a democracy to a authoritarian one will not come easy! He and his family makes money while living free & travel free. The power to dump many harmless poor people out as possible!

@leonardpierce Something like the Assembly Of Locals wouldn’t have precluded ppl showing up for things, but given how little shit got done and the actual lack of honest discussion at the convention AOL would still be a huge improvement

@CeoOndas AOL was my Twitter back then: A new IBM PC client launched in 1988, eventually renamed as America Online in 1989. AOL grew to become the largest online service, displacing established players like CompuServe and The Source. By 1995, AOL had about three million active users.

  • henryelizabeth hen (@henryelizabeth) reported

@biquid_kris @johnvvariety AOL IM was real busy on 9/11 when all the cell phones were down. We had email. we had online groups and networks. I guess if you didn't get out much & didn't live close enough to hear the sirens all day & no one called to check on you. I guess you could make it a day or two.

  • msmashaarielle Masha Arielle (@msmashaarielle) reported

Sucks that @AOL email/account gets deleted after 6 months of inactivity. At least, if there was a special process to recover it. Talk about erased years of pictures, emails, and other things I would of loved to access. #disappointed

  • stillundone Not Quite Young (@stillundone) reported

@cyenart Kids who grew up in the internet era and missed the era of “anyone can put anything online/strangers are potential creeps” panic adults had during the time AOL was mailing people the internet on a CD seem to have trouble registering that these fears weren’t entirely unwarranted.

@OneRadChee @Sharonapple123 Yeah no. That's peanuts. When AOL merged with Time Warner in 2002 they had a combined loss of $98.7 billion. The worst annual loss in corporate history.
