Adulting department, successful. Cancelled an email account from an old ISP that I hadn’t been on in (several? Many?) years. Sorry to those 20k plus emails that are never getting read. Goes to the graveyard in the ether, along with my AOL account.

  • Daniel_Guiney Daniel (@Daniel_Guiney) reported from Valhalla, New York

If you guess your aol password incorrectly three times it locks you out for 12 hours. No customer service override. This is not how you provide customer satisfaction an why I moved to Gmail 😂

We all agree: the idea of Facebook as the main steward of the Metaverse is awful. But protesting it is not gonna prevent it. What we need is a better open alternative, what Netscape was to AOL and MSN back in the day. We need an open metaverse, we need a metaverse W3C

@malleableware @LisaForteUK Yes I’ve never been on BookFace Meta what’s it called either. Or bebo or aol or anything else ‘trendy’ except Twitter of course. High quality, non-trivial, deep tech Twitter. After all I only have so much time to waste.

  • greglinden Greg Linden (@greglinden) reported

@RMac18 Zuck's strategy does seem to treat Facebook like AOL when it was in decline, a dying cash cow used mainly by older people. It may get worse and worse, fewer and fewer may use it each year, but for at least a few years it'll produce tasty profits.

  • rehes seher • سحر (@rehes) reported

like when aol instant messenger came out and you tried to IM yourself. that **** was weird.

  • saralynndraws sara (@saralynndraws) reported

@bobvids this is some like AOL-era spyware **** honestly

  • BanksyRedux 🕉Fugiwara☯️Shibeinutoshi☮️ (@BanksyRedux) reported

@iJaceSummers @AOL You know the level of dangers we were exposed to around that time should have ****** us up more worst. But because it didn’t I’m extremely amazed looking back. Lol

@Rengle820 I suspect that @meta wants to be the portal to basically everything, like AOL was in its early days. I think that's a bad thing, given FB's exploitive business model. I'd be OK with Google as the search engine. Search is of course a fundamental, critical function.
