@ccwu I remember being a Quantum Link subscriber on my Commodore 64 and 300 baud modem and that service disappearing fairly quickly. I only learned later from Kara Swisher's book on AOL that Quantum Link was the precursor to AOL.

@octothorpe PCPursuit wasn’t shenanigans. Totally legit service that let you use TeleNet (dial up backbone used by aol and compuserve) to make outbound calls in other regions. Was like $30/month. Now you could get to places to learn about shenanigans using it…

@rikupone @omnijambles Shut ******** up zoomer. everything you just said is completely wrong. In the 90s no one had cell phones until around 99 and even then most people didn’t have one. MySpace wasn’t around till 2005. No one had geocities, we used AOL chat rooms or AIM.

  • seatomb Jack꥟Young (@seatomb) reported

@the_dharmafox Was it AOL chat rooms? I remember how slow a dial internet connection was, the sound of the modem booting up.

  • Drosdin1 John Robinson (@Drosdin1) reported

@Noahpinion Having been on the net since '92, I can say it's always been this way. When people interact, they hate those that disagree. When AOL let their horde out to the real internet it was a nightmare. Once "Web 2.0" let us into each others heads it got a lot worse. But it was always bad

  • Moz44127575 Moz (not that one) #BLM 💙 (@Moz44127575) reported

@InPostUK Hey. So got your email. Replied to it. Hope you got it. If not....I'm away from the office now, but will try my work email tmrw. Just in case it's an AOL issue....
