My father in law (86) tried to send an email for the first time in a while (his words). His AOL email stopped working. I had to explain that it was a service and he probably stopped it a long time ago.

An instance is like selecting an email service. You may be on gmail, but yr pals on aol or yahoo. You can still email one another tho. That’s how decentralized communication works. If AOL were shut down, u cd migrate to gmail, etc. or u can start yr own server. That’s the concept

@CollinRugg You can't see that he is driving Twitter out of business? Soon to go the way of MySpace and AOL. His offensive is just that, and when there isn't an interested third party to block him, everything he touches turns to ****. Just like TFG.

@herBUTTERFLYway @il0venostalgia That's not the AOL sound. That's the sound from logging into a privately hosted BBS (Bulletin Board Service) or CompuServe. AOL didn't exist yet when I first started going online. Neither did the World Wide Web. Yeah, I'm old.
