The Silver Cloak (@TheSilverCloak) reported@jaygrocott29 @DoctorWhoPN Wrong. The public service broadcasters are all gifted their spectrum and their advantageous position on the Freeview EPG. Road tax was abolished in 1937. Road building and maintenance is paid by general taxation. Revenue from VED just goes into the chancellor’s pot.

I like a couple of beers after working 9-12 hrs a day. Hardly ever get takeaways or take the Mrs out for a meal.

The ones I don’t pay for (Freeview services) are funded by advertising. Frankly the public funding for C4 should be revoked too.

However, BBC World Service is available in the UK on Freeview, so it's not as if you're paying for something you can't listen to, unlike when it was funded through taxation. Plus cable and satellite operators abroad also pay to carry it.

The hotel I'm in tonight upt North looks like it hasn't had the channels updated for at least 5 years.
