  Only reason I mentioned that song (Tarzan Boy) is because I've been watching a lot on NOW 80s on Freeview channel 83. I didn't realise that apart from some good songs, how much crap there was as well in the 80s 😂

  There's an interesting problem here. Switching off Freeview would make spectrum available for 5/6G, but at the (enormous) cost of putting all that bandwidth on existing connections. Not least all the perfectly good non-smart TVs that would become E-waste overnight.

  The BBC freeview digital signal is so bad in Devon Pixilated on & off then a complete loss during the England game? All other channels bar BBC2 worked fine. Had to watch on the laggy BBCi player that was also problematic. I paid for this service. Piss poor service.

  @aconda_ann I am quite old fashioned as well. I did get a bargain smallish 'internet / smart' TV but no use when freezes or internet cuts off (been happening for years, with no fix). It's on a terrible indoor aerial, so I can't get most Freeview on that one but my fave usual telly: Freeview.

  @HisenseUK I bought a 55inch tv I had it for 23months all of a sudden I couldn’t get all freeview stations after 4 calls I was told it was my Ariel now I’m left with a heap of crap.

  @RetroKeithyD @dave43law I've got Freeview and Freely. Freely is great where you have bad reception. But it eats data. If you have a lower use broadband package you will need to pay for unlimited use. That could hit people on lower incomes. Also had to reboot it a few times, too technical for some.

  @jamzefish @BBCNews Ok, I get that you're talking about unencrypted satellite signals, but these can be controlled. Everyone will have to login to iPlayer for BBC content with some programs requiring a paid subscription. Freeview channels should remain viewable without need for a TV licence.

  @retrovinmania79 @NoContextBrits You don't the difference between Freeview/DVB (which is the morden digital version of what you said) and a streaming service that requires you to make a profile account to use the software/service even though you don't like on YouTube. You only pay to get rid of the adverts.
