'Freely' is currently being touted as the IPTV replacement - From about Β£70 for a set-top box; this price will drop dramatically.

Nor does it account for anyone who doesn't want/have broadband.

However, BBC World Service is available in the UK on Freeview, so it's not as if you're paying for something you can't listen to, unlike when it was funded through taxation. Plus cable and satellite operators abroad also pay to carry it.

No BBC, No transmission network, no Freeview. This is why you have to pay the licence for all live TV.
