Mitch W 71 (@Mitch_1142) reported@1Atkins @ThatsTVOfficial xenon81Message posted on30 Jul 2026 03:21 PM - last edited: 30 Jul 2026 03:22 PM That's TV has gradually removed all its channels from Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media over the last few months. It remains on Freeview (for now) but is said to be suffering financial problems.

Gotta Have Faith (@Suzghf) reportedI bet you haven't even read the info where they're thinking about scrapping all freeview channels. And so to watch TV it'll all be paid online service - that you need ID for! Join the dots.

Stephen Neal (@Stephen_Neal) reported@UHD4k @Bobbinz @SVGEurope Afraid although I work for BBC Studios (which makes shows for the BBC) I have no insight into what iPlayer may support in the future. AAC was chosen for Freeview HD because Dolby had no equivalent receiver-mix audio desc'n support in 2009ish when the platform was standardised.

Velvettoatone (@TeamMPTS1) reportedAnother stupid idea is the 2034 plan to turn off Freeview. In no way will rural broadband be up to providing reliable services by then..the same applies to FM/MW radio. It's ridiculous meanness dressed up as 'progress' @SarahChampionMP @KarlTurnerMP @lukeakehurst

jason_mi7 (@Mi7Jason) reported@WhichUK For live events, internet speed isn’t everything. For reliability and lowest delay, broadcast TV still wins: Freeview, satellite or cable. Fibre streaming is great but usually behind “live”. 5G/4G/Starlink can work well, but depend more on signal, congestion and load.
-
Chimera (@ChimeraX2021) reported@Oxford_Life @Watto_T @willguyatt There has never been any 4K content on Freeview.
-
Matt Quinn - The Caledonian Television Company. (@Matt_Q_OnX) reported@sparry951 @diablik_uk @BENEFITS_NEWS It'll be a slow creep; for many years now some channels on the Freeview EPG have in fact been streamed. Freeview recorders are still readily available for those that want them; if you're using Sky/Virgin etc. you're already NOT using the Freeview service that is 'under threat'.

Nicola 💙 (@nikpet1) reportedI’m staying at daughters this week and their internet is down and off until after 9 tonight. How is this going to work when they remove freeview especially for the oldies when it’s there only company in life. Mad idea.
-
chris🥛I’m pro-choice (@scrivo35) reported@EmmerdaleInside There is no excuse not to put football or any other sport on ITV 3 or 4 as everyone who watches TV will have digital TV ( Freeview) as the analog signal got turned off years ago and them channels are free to all ( as long as they pay the TV Tax)

Ashford Kent Police (@AshfordKentGov) reported@Steven59066 Keir starmer shouldn't be shutting down Freeview really, its not on, luckily you have Dvds from London Soho to keep you entertained right, - AKP
