I only deal with news about Freeview and Virgin Media UK. (And the soon to launch Virgin Media IPTV Network).

  • pondlifetwit pondlife twit (@pondlifetwit) reported

@PCarmichaelVO @NadineDorries Freeview? That's for poor people who don't have Netflix or Sky!!

  • PCarmichaelVO Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported

@PumaBare How do the elderly access television when you’ve removed the licence fee which pays for maintenance of the Freeview transmitter network, the most popular (and cheapest) way for the elderly to watch TV?

  • justine_j Justine J (@justine_j) reported

@FreeviewAdvice We suddenly lost our Freeview channels, we've tried rescanning but can only get 30ish channels. Can you help?

  • PCarmichaelVO Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported

@williambecket @NadineDorries So you’ll be happy for these pensioners to pay a separate broadcasting tax to maintain the Freeview transmitter network? That’s MILLIONS each year. None of the programming they recognise of course.

  • ETusty Emma T (@ETusty) reported

Not just freeview issues, but our internet is also flickering.

  • brianwinteruk Brian Winter (@brianwinteruk) reported from Hipswell, England

@PCarmichaelVO @NadineDorries BBC does NOT maintain Freeview network. That is Arqiva. BBC in partnership with other PSB broadcasters own Freeview. They, like other broadcaster pay carriage charges to Arqiva.

  • PCarmichaelVO Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported

@williambecket @NadineDorries Hi William. The most popular way for pensioners to receive TV is via Freeview. The licence fee pays to maintain the Freeview transmitter network. Presumably this “pay rise” for pensioners can then pay for this?

  • PCarmichaelVO Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported

@brownboots23 @stevehemsley @NadineDorries So how do we provide such things as disability programming, Welsh language broadcasting, maintain the Freeview transmitter network (used largely by the elderly and poor) and provide educational resources? These don’t generate profit. Ready when you are.

  • PCarmichaelVO Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported

@PumaBare So you want private subscribers to maintain the Freeview network that they don’t use, provide educational resources whether they have kids or not, provide Welsh services if they aren’t Welsh, provide for Disability programming if they aren’t disabled? Why should they?
