Freeview Issues Reports Near Durham, England

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Durham and nearby locations:

  • GerryCarpenter3 Gerry Carpenter (@GerryCarpenter3) reported from Sunderland, England

@Claire_Pickard @sueashton3000 Many residents in Sunderland & along the Durham Coast also receive Freeview Channels from the Bilsdale transmitter. The fire is also likely to have knocked out about 30 relay stations, which "feed" on signals from Bilsdale. I wouldn't like to climb up the transmitter to fix it!

Ah an update from Freeview (two weeks with no TV & Radio now) "the signal will return around the 28th August" the phrase "around the 28th" being key...it was "will return on the 28th"..... So, about the 5th September?

@Space_FL @nikkinoelle7 Good,I haven’t got Showtime, I’m in the UK and it’s an American channel or service so we don’t get showtime over here, it could be on Sky, our main satellite broadcaster, I’ve got 80 plus Freeview digital channels and Netflix and Amazon Prime, I’ve got a smart Tv so got YouTube👍

  • garyhaywardcom Gary Hayward (@garyhaywardcom) reported

Can't wait for my new TV roof aerial to arrive. Nothing to do with the #Bilsdale outage; never been able to get all the Freeview channels with my current, ancient one. #BilsdaleFire

  • DBuick22 David Buick (@DBuick22) reported

@aj__lmao It being a Friday night and on freeview TV doesn’t help either, but it’s definitely largely down to the mood following the last 3 games.

  • a516digital Mike (ex-a516digital) (@a516digital) reported

@belperite Hi. Good question. The satellite feed is broadcast in DVB-S. It has to be converted into a DVB-T multiplex using a modulator so that Freeview devices can receive it. The solution for ITV/C4 and C5 means they can use a similar system to that used in hotels and ships, no encoder.

  • KingDaveRa David Rickard (@KingDaveRa) reported

The TV itself can do Freesat and Freeview HD. Unfortunately the loft aerial has a ****** signal so I need to sort that out.
