  • minxsterev helen kirk (@minxsterev) reported from Crewe, England

@curryspcworld Just been into your Crewe store looking for a freeview box. 5 staff members fiddling with displays, me the only customer. Not one member of staff came to see if I needed help. Going elsewhere as you obvs don't need my custom.

  • kirstxxiv kirstylouise (@kirstxxiv) reported from Stoke-on-Trent, England

Imagine how much of a Christmas miracle it would be if BBC3 came back to freeview number 7. I can picture it now, Gavin & Stacey returns and BBC3 makes a comeback. 25/12/19 would go down in history.

  • Crewedaddy Richard Seamon (@Crewedaddy) reported from Crewe, England

@james_blue_cat Can't afford any streaming service or the hardware upgrade to accommodate one. Freeview and iPlayer is enough. Didn't switch telly on Xmas day and Bob and Paul going fishing was my highlight.

@RussInCheshire These set of stats don't even cover that the licence fee pays in to support the infrastructure to deliver the "other channels" including broadband roll-outs as well as being a founding force behind Freeview. #SaveOurBBC

  • PCarmichaelVO Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported

@John__Northants @LucyMPowell maintenance of the Freeview transmitters and even help the security services via BBC Monitoring? Talk Radio? 🙄

  • lewismj_waioeka Michael Lewis (@lewismj_waioeka) reported

@jonholmes1 @Aiannucci If the BBC is great, it will have no trouble getting subscribers, what are you afraid of? Why force say pensioners or the poor to pay a regressive tax? They may be happy with FreeView, why should they be forced into paying for the BBC if they don't want it?

  • BillboBilleric1 BillboBillericay (@BillboBilleric1) reported

@JuliaHB1 The BBC is not a public service and therefore should not be funded through a form of taxation. 80 plus channels available on Freeview that are not funded by the taxpayer, but I am not allowed to watch them unless I pay the BBC tax.

  • lewismj_waioeka Michael Lewis (@lewismj_waioeka) reported

@GaryLineker @Aiannucci If the BBC is great, it will have no trouble getting subscribers, what are you afraid of? Why force say pensioners or the poor to pay a regressive tax? They may be happy with FreeView, why should they be forced into paying for the BBC if they don't want it?

  • stansmith1970 Stan Smith (@stansmith1970) reported

@CAA_Official Most of the defund the BBC tossers would happily cite "Only fools & horses" as their favourite comedy. They also seem to fail to recognise the Freeview channels they watch and it's infrastructure are provided in part by the BBC whilst they are sat watching BBC repeats on 'Dave'

  • JustTransitionW Just Transition Wakefield (@JustTransitionW) reported

@SteB777 @GeorgeMonbiot Thinking: without the licence fee, every pensioner will have to buy a subscription service - it will completely undermine the freeview concept. Or we will be left watching ITV and Channel 4 - if that survives… Then as many point out, radio… Not an easy decision for the wise…

  • WayneMarriott8 Wayne Marriott (@WayneMarriott8) reported

@theninetyninep1 @cononeilluk @luckyma_man Only problem with that argument is you assume elderly people ONLY watch bbc, itv, ch4, ch5.. I know many where I live in the peak park (where terrestrial reception is poor , even freeview is difficult ) who already subscribe to sky some even have Netflix ..so it’s nothing new

  • lewismj_waioeka Michael Lewis (@lewismj_waioeka) reported

@Fles__ @partnumber2 They wouldn't be destroying it. What are you afraid of? If the BBC is as good as you say it is, they'll have lots of subscribers, go global. For those that would prefer to save money and just use FreeView, why would you force them to pay for a service you want but they don't?

  • mardibum63 mardibum63 (@mardibum63) reported

@landeleanor People cant afford the Internet at the moment. I already said changing the cost of anything is beyond my abilities much like yours . I'm sure freeview is still available without the need for the internet maybe it could be done that way. Do you have a solution?
