@geoffpgreen @MrsBDent I'd negotiated it down for years and eventually they said no, so I cancelled. 32mb Fibre broadband and HD freeview for £30/month with TalkTalk. Amazon Prime for £80/year. Everything I need.

@CraigS0309 People are arguing about this very advice. Take a Sky engineer, if your Sky box or dish breaks. One person argued it shouldn’t be fixed & use Freeview. Problem with that for me is 1) I don’thave Freeview as no aerial and 2) I pay Sky extra to cover equipment

@KiszelyPhilip BBC radio superb, money from the licence fee also helps maintain the freeview service. Still regularly watch programmes on it more than any other channel. It still has the biggest audience share of any U.K. tv broadcaster. So this narrative no one watches it, is a lie.

@RupertLowe10 Make it a hybrid. Skeleton service on Freeview funded by adverts, with the option of a subscription for online ad-free and premium content. Basically the way ITV does it.

@by_niels21222 @RupertLowe10 Have advertising. We should also consider what the licence fee funds. DAB, & Freeview rely in licence fee funding to operate. The World Service & BBC online are vital to many expats who'd risk losing their connection with the UK if they weren't there. There'd be no
