  • mj_symonds Max the prettyboy (@mj_symonds) reported from Bristol, England

I pay license fee pretty much entirely because of how good BBC Four is. It is one of the best channels on television (or at least on Freeview, I can't speak for paid) so to axe it would be a terrible shame. #LoveBBCFour please Auntie Been don't kill your best child.

@cleanfeed_ttvr I hope that ITV West Country HD is a priority. 🤞 Freeview 103 currently shows Central West, right down to Penzance. Even if it was just the "HTV" variant carried pan-regionally, that would at least be "less wrong" for Devon & Cornwall than news about Brum, Stoke-on-Trent etc.

  • chrisandobe Chris (@chrisandobe) reported from Kingswood, England

@AskWWENetwork I live in the UK, we don't have fs1 here :( I have got Freeview TV and WWE network

  • lauzksmith Mark Smudger Smith (@lauzksmith) reported from Timsbury, England

@creativesab @FreeviewTV Hi. Was the issue Freeview or Aerial related please?

@stephenashman13 @RevRichardColes @SteveBreave If you don't consume over the air broadcasts then you don't have to pay for it. That includes Freeview, FreeSat. You could watch maybe 60% online (a guess), but it would be a pretty horrible experience.

  • dougmcfarlane41 Douglas Mcfarlane (@dougmcfarlane41) reported

Tweeters saying #BBCLicenceFee helping maintaining #Freeview. Well come to Teesside and we'll show you how it doesn't maintain Jack ****. Our Blisdale Transmitter burnt down August 10th 2021 & we've only this month got patchy service some still have zero. Maintained my arse

  • shaycorri Shay Corrigan (@shaycorri) reported

@SpergenFlergen @bbcpress Doesn’t the license fee go towards maintaining the Freeview signal stream? So 5 of the things you mention there indirectly benefit from license fee payments as they couldn’t be broadcast without the digital signal.

  • dougmcfarlane41 Douglas Mcfarlane (@dougmcfarlane41) reported

@PCarmichaelVO @NadineDorries In Teesside August 10th 2021 we lost our only Freeview transmitter to a fire. 1 million homes lost its Freeview. Only last week have people got a patchy service back, just BBC some areas have still no signal. 4 months no FreeviewTv. Tell me BBC r doing a good job maintaining mast

  • MattSnarky Meh.. (@MattSnarky) reported

@Scrumpydude1 @jamiebglover How do you think the broadcast network that Freeview runs on gets paid for? All those transmitters that still need to be operated and maintained?

  • RobSmit12639238 Tech Man (@RobSmit12639238) reported

@williamnhutton You happy for the sums the BBC is paying too its stars?? Maybe the BBC needs to cut down its Daytime offering. Just make it Subscription based.. If u want to pay U do. If u dont then U dont & have no access to BBC Content. ITV, Ch4 then all truly "Freeview"

  • JezParton Jez Parton (@JezParton) reported

@mitchyj_ @sophielouisecc No it's not. It provides far more than ITV, for example. What funds the Freeview +transmission network (which many pensioners use to access TV). That's right, the BBC licence fee.

  • mac_critical Mac (@mac_critical) reported

Today I learned Freeview is partially funded by the BBC. I’m sure Dorries has considered all the potential implications should that service end.

  • ianfrench13 Ian French (@ianfrench13) reported

@ElaineMatuszew1 @NadineDorries Other TV channels do exist. Not just BBC, and also many of them can be found on Freeview ( not internet / streaming ). Besides, this issue isn't about getting rid of th BBC. It will still exist, but it will be funded differently

  • Purple43213287 Purple (@Purple43213287) reported

@andrew_wauchope @guardian So you don't think disability programming is a vital service? What about the freeview network?
