@Sonic_Sinclair @bbcmicrobot Technically it is, there's support for it in DVB. There's several channels on DVB satellite that uses it, not sure there's any on freeview. Certainly all the original services shutdown or moved to MHEG. The BBC mheg service was incredible but that's shutdown now too 🙁

@PaulAllenSK1 @BettinaSRoss1 @jackalsbynight Even if you never watch the BBC you still benefit from its existence. As long it supplies services for free, subscriptions to others have to be kept affordable. Innovation & training are also important. How do you think Freeview came about? Certainly not from commercial companies

@EstibalizTerron Well done. If people could get the heads out of what Murdoch and chronies want them to believe, they might realise that the TV channels are a small part of what they get - dozens of radio stations, BBC Online, Bitesize, World Service, Freeview, FreeSat, R&D technology....

@simonday And how many of these shows, and others such as QI, Mock the Week, etc. are repeated on freeview, cable, and satellite channels, and probably being watched by people who "never watch BBC" ?

@UKSpunkyMonkey @JustMark33 @GaryLineker Yes, that's because the BBC is non-excludable. Sky can turn your signal off very easily and do it all the time. How would the BBC stop you from listening to BBC Radio? Also most of the TV is on Freeview. I'm hearing lots of over-simplistic reasoning in this thread.

@pauljamestailor @Av8trix1 @bbcpress Never check the news headlines online? Never listen to local radio stations in the car for traffic reports? Never listen to R1 & 2? Never use Freeview, hosted by the Beeb, or watch their classy repeats on Dave, etc? Never used iPlayer? Yeah, right...

@Aiannucci @Channel4 How is not forcing people to pay for a service they may not want 'coming for' ? What is your problem? A pensioner for example, may decide to save money and stick to Freeview. Why force them to pay for BBC. If BBC is great, then people will subscribe.

@_Kano_P What gripes me. I NEVER watch live TV for one exception… i only pay a tv licence to watch F1 on Sky… which I then have to pay £41 a month for. If you pay for sky/bt/virgin etc then you shouldn’t need a licence. If you use freesat / or built in tv freeview then you should

@TheNine96539330 @TheLastHatGirl @NadineDorries I’ll defend programming for the disabled, Freeview maintenance to give access to TV for the elderly and poor, resources for schools and Welsh/Gaelic language programming all the way. If you don’t agree, that’s your choice. Cheers!

@JuliaHB1 So often disagree with you but not on this one, from August 10th 2021 til Jan 5th 2022 we had no FREEVIEW services due to transmitter fire so had ZERO channels of any network for over 4 months, imagine such a third world country we are for infrastructure. Obviously sensible 1/2
