  @BoostTorbay @AndrewBrazier1 Never used the first two options. Very much old school. None of the fancy pants Sky or Virgin Media either. Just plain old Freeview for me

  @Robin_Redway @RichPreston How do you technically provide a subscription service on terrestrial Freeview? If you don’t, you have to get people to subscribe to Sky or Virgin and/or internet access to receive the BBC. The standard service of both of those costs more than the BBC.

  It won't mean viewers will suddenly see the same channels on Freeview and Freesat on the same channel numbers: there are still carriage and licensing issues that may dictate where channels are found...

  @ArtyBagger The issue is choice. I should prefer not to fund the BBC, but I am forced to if I wish to watch live programs from other broadcasters on Freeview. I'm sure you wouldn't force me to buy your books, likewise, we should be able to choose if we wish to pay for the BBC. #DefundTheBBC

  @MoneySavingExp 1. Cancel Sky. Freeview plus Netflix costs less than £10/month. 2. Cook everything fresh, stop buying ready meals. 3. Get a SIM-Only contract (£6/month) rather than an expensive contract. 4. Overpay the mortgage every month. Treat it like a bill. 5. Pay off credit cards in full.

  @channel5_tv is the worst for catch up tv via your app or freeview. Just can’t find programmes sometimes. Trying to find Sally Lindsays posh sleepover. C4, itv and BBC never ever have a problem with. I give up with C5

  @DaveMcleanComms That is your choice. But many people rely on the BBC as a free to air public broadcasting service. Its a bit like paying your National Insurance & choosing to pay medical insurance to go private instead of using the NHS. Also, you get to watch all the freeview channels as well.

  @MarcCorbishley I've never seen it, I can't afford to subscribe to the premium package it was on. I'm strictly on whatever Freeview throws my way. If it comes up on ITV in ten years time I guess I'll finally watch it, haha.

  @hauchmagandy @GBNEWS The idea of an unbiased and independent news channel has never been tried in the UK. I'm interested in seeing how it looks... but not at the expense of having Sky, a Freeview box or paying the BBC **** tax.
