@CAA_Official Most of the defund the BBC tossers would happily cite "Only fools & horses" as their favourite comedy. They also seem to fail to recognise the Freeview channels they watch and it's infrastructure are provided in part by the BBC whilst they are sat watching BBC repeats on 'Dave'
-
Jerry C Alderson (@jerryalderson) reported
@back_the_BBC #Subscription for TV channels cannot currently be achieved on Freeview because it doesn't support encryption with identity-based decryption. This is the principal reason why government reluctantly accepts #BBC TV services must remain fully open until at least 2027.

@gnomeicide Freeview network is supported by the licence fee.

@LaylaMoran @BBCOxford If the BBC is great, it will have no trouble getting subscribers, what are you afraid of? Why force say pensioners or the poor to pay a regressive tax? They may be happy with FreeView, why should they be forced into paying for the BBC if they don't want it?

@Garysonfire BBC Licence fee also go toward support for the Freeview network infrastructure

@talkRADIO @Iromg @BeccyRyan What a load of rubbish. How can you pay a subscription fee for radio services? There are no uk based news TV channels which are subscription, Sky is free on freeview. Allow the bbc to compete for ad and sponsorship on a phased basis while winding down the licence free.

Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported
@John__Northants @LucyMPowell maintenance of the Freeview transmitters and even help the security services via BBC Monitoring? Talk Radio? 🙄
-
Ken Tindell (@kentindell) reported
@stephenkb @colinelves There’s a technical issue with existing Freeview (DVB-T2 as rolled out in the UK) equipment being used for content access. It’s impractical to turn conventional TV into pay TV. So it will have to be free to air plus top up TV via streaming and/or another box.

@Paul_Briley @jongreydavies @LDNCalling How do you make radio and freeview TV a subscription service?
-
Sammy James (@MrSammyJames) reported
@BerishaShow But if it's a subscription service there would be no reason to keep those prohibitively expensive stations going. They would chase profits like any other business. Also, please tell me how subscription freeview TV / FM radio could work from a technical point of view?
