@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK George,I feel your pain. The absolute **** Optus put my intellectually disabled brother thru over a phone he didn't purchase was beyond excusable. After unsuccessfully trying to sort it out on his behalf I ended up having to engage a lawyer. Things sorted out quickly then, but...

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK My experience is not as bad as yours but I took a contract out some 10 years ago due to the gifts they gave. After 8 mths I paid the contract off due to poor c/s. 10 yrs later, according to all my credit files, I still owe them £8!! Can't cancel as can't pass security. NIGHTMARE

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK The solicitor administering your mother’s estate should have cancelled the phone. If provided with a death certificate by anyone with authority over her estate, legally they must cancel the service. Power of attorney over your father doesn’t make you your mother’s executor

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK So sorry you've had this problem George. I go into my local Vodafone store to sort things about my account and they are brilliant - mostly young people and always very helpful. Sky on the other hand have stolen my landline number after I cancelled my order within the 28 days.

@VodafoneUK @GeorgeMonbiot FFS Vodafone just call him after all you are a telecoms business! Change your deceased customer process it’s clearly broken as are many other businesses. Obsessed no doubt re fraud when a few sympathetic checks would solve it, a database exists when a death is registered, use it!

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK @EE for the benefit of the group, EE customer service is excellent. They are very well trained. No, I do t work for them. Only moved to Sky because EE became too expensive. Sky mobile are really good too. Don't work for them either.

@GeorgeMonbiot @VodafoneUK I learned after Optus stole all the money in my account on what supposed to be a $30 pre pay and refused to give it back to NEVER go with a company that only direct debits.
