I just think it’s because the carrier settings aren’t compatible, therefore iPhone reverts to default for the type of data network connection. So 4G here is LTE in the states.

Shaun Jenks 📸📱 (@Shaunjenks) reported from Shrewsbury, EnglandSo 5G officially went live in the UK today on the @EE network in 5 major cities, @VodafoneUK will follow suit in a few weeks. 5G compatible smartphones are still pretty thin on the ground, and with no iPhone expected until 2nd half of 2020 this is going to be a slow burner #5G

Vodafone and O2 have a cell sharing agreement meaning your phone will switch between the 2 networks in poor signal areas (cheaper way of increasing coverage) they also share many cell towers with both having antenna on a tower.

I’ve tried to call and tried the online help but not managed to get to talk to a person. I’m at the point of speaking legal advice as no idea what else to do.

It even still says Vodafone as my carrier. So I assume it’s just an admin switch there end.

There customer service is disgusting always getting billing wrong and over charging then cutting us off when we don’t pay the over charge
