    @theretrobyte I think I would still have been with Dungeon/FlexNet back then. Never used any of the likes of AOL, Freeserve, etc.

    @TalkTalk , @Yahoo and @AOL seem to have the greatest difficulty maintaining a normal service. I pay for a service which I am not getting. I am cut off from my email at the moment. Previously, I have been plagued by Indian sub continent scammers because of a data breach. #NotGood

    @anildash I can remember Microsoft trying to launch their own network to compete with the internet or so it seemed, I joined got an account then had to wait about an hour, via dialup, to cancel it, back to AOL it was for me.

    @AOLSupportHelp I have an AOL app on my iPad with a load of no longer valid contact addresses. When I delete them via the on line site they do not disappear from my iPad contacts. There is no tick box on the iPad contacts to facilitate deleting them direct! Help!!

    That "Section 230" debate, about whether web services are neutral networks like post/phone or publishers with an editorial view, goes back a long time to AOL and Genie era. Was never sustainably resolved. Like "How can a brand be a person on social media"... just never addressed.

    Mid to late 90's institutions scoffed at Internet stocks like AOL, Yahoo, Dell, Microsoft and told people it was stupid to invest in them. Fast-forward and we're met with the same sentiment and #cryptocurrency. They will miss the boat again, you don't have to. #Bitcoin #Crypto

    @AOLSupportHelp I am trying to close my account and the online route won't let me and said I had to call customer service. I did and the rep unhelpfully told me to try the online route. When I said that didn't work, and what she was telling me wasn't working, she hung up on me.

    That was why when cable came out, I yearned for foreign movies because they were all subtitled. Limited in some ways yes, but then AOL chat rooms came in 1998 and for 72 hours, I watched what people said and I learnt so much but was confused by terms or phrases I never heard.

    This also means that if they allow content on their network from a user or other publisher that is defamatory, lewd, and false that they cannot be held liable for a civil suit. Fact-checking is convenience-based not fact-based. This was observed in Zeran vs. AOL (1997). 3/5

    @JesseLi48096164 @Coyoteblog @ElonBachman It worked relative to what would’ve happened medium-term to AOL. However, it was a clear signal to short the stock as the growth narrative could no longer be maintained. I would love Tesla to merge with an OEM.
