@theretrobyte I think I would still have been with Dungeon/FlexNet back then. Never used any of the likes of AOL, Freeserve, etc.

@TalkTalk , @Yahoo and @AOL seem to have the greatest difficulty maintaining a normal service. I pay for a service which I am not getting. I am cut off from my email at the moment. Previously, I have been plagued by Indian sub continent scammers because of a data breach. #NotGood

Then there's apple. I think Mail on macOS is the best app I've ever used for mail. it supports most third party services (gmail, yahoo, aol, exchange) out of the box. Search works. It can handle folders with 100,000+ emails no problem.

Only thing anyone did on the internet is look up funny stuff, watch a few videos, some games, and talk **** on AOL chatrooms. It was probably AOL.

@danheld @Sir_Gelson I'm old enough to remember America on Line ((AOL). It was THE search engine of the internet. Then along came a better system, AOL couldn't or would not improve and innovate. Buy buy AOL hello Google. Proof of work doesn't work.

@GregIrwin9 It catches me by surprise every time and I'm irrationally annoyed that what should take 12 seconds never does. The Tetons trip communications even say don't use aol, yahoo, or CPS emails if you want to get these emails. Come on!

In all our years’ acquaintance, we never met in person and only spoke to one another once. But via BBS, AOL, web forums, and FB, we remained in touch over the years. I will miss him, but I hope he’s free from pain now.

@Alby_Bach I would open "***** Matters" and chat until AOL shut it down.

Today's generation never knew that Netscape and AOL was a big deal.... ...or that MSN was a browser... ...or that ICQ was a chat service.. ..or Ask Jeeves was a search engine.. ..or that you had to go to a net cafe to check email because noone had PCs to get online..

@AnnaJKlassen Likewise I still haven't been able to cancel my AOL dialup service. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

@JouNft I suggest reading about the AOL ( American Online ) which was the biggest stock in that era and people used to think would never fail. Just like right now with Bitcoin. A cleanup for the crypto is needed. This really has nothing to do with market going to zero lmao
