@AOLSupportHelp I have an AOL app on my iPad with a load of no longer valid contact addresses. When I delete them via the on line site they do not disappear from my iPad contacts. There is no tick box on the iPad contacts to facilitate deleting them direct! Help!!

before online music was a thing we built musicnow dot com (aol acquired) and had subscribers paying ~25.00 back in 2004 The hustle was real and there was times when we thought we would shut down any day. Eventually we were shut down by aol … a short thread 🧵

@fakeaccount403 @jryanahrens Sorry not to be rude but I was born in 1985 and every time I see Gen x claim this I’m thinking “that was my childhood, actually”. Those were my “formative years”. In the same room I taped radio songs and then logged onto AOL a few years later.

My internet is dead until a tech comes to fix it tomorrow. Motion needs to be filed by midnight. AT&T throttled my hotspot speed to 128 kbps. Made it in time but have never felt so close to my childhood in AOL chatrooms saying my dad is Stone Cold Steve Austin as I did today.

@jack I also disagree because AOL shut down anyone doing anything commercial in an attempt to monetize their keywords when they had far more central control over the internet than you see today. Today you can set up a YT or an IG etc.

Last year ESPN randomly locks me out of my 15 year old ESPN account tied to my AOL screen name. I'm forced to create a new login, get reinvited to all my leagues mid season - today I try signing in to my old profile and HEY WHAT'S UP EASY PEASY WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?? 😑😑

@themouthyoufeed Always knew that my particular adoption was awful, I remember being extremely young and destroyed over my (to me) 'real' mother. Found BN when I was a teen with an AOL disk, started learning from them. Eight years ago I found groups of online adoptees and really solidified it

@MahoganyCounsel I learned that lesson in college. AOL chatrooms had my **** all messed up. Turned in my paper with hella shorthand in it. Damn red ink everywhere lol
