@anildash I can remember Microsoft trying to launch their own network to compete with the internet or so it seemed, I joined got an account then had to wait about an hour, via dialup, to cancel it, back to AOL it was for me.

@theretrobyte I think I would still have been with Dungeon/FlexNet back then. Never used any of the likes of AOL, Freeserve, etc.

@AOL @WSJ at the height of the crisis hospitals started to shut down and people who were dependent on infirmaries were left to fend of themselves on street; why is it dualistic to that moot point beyond conjecture retardation is not an excuse to be mean to others

@TheFblsKilljoy @nicksdjohnson @stevanzetti The term “platform” has no meaning within section 230. It never appears there. Zeran v aol. Doe v Facebook. Many cases have examined this sort of thing. It’s not something that can be debated or argued. At all. The law is settled.

@profgalloway you often talk on @PivotPod about AOL’s purchase of Timewarner as the worst acq in history followed by the recent acquisition of Twitter. Which makes me wonder…what’s the best tech acq of all time? Facebooks’s purchase of Instagram? Google’s purchase of YouTube?

@TansuYegen I remember working remotely back in 1998 and uploading and downloading data files via AOL telephone dial-up. Most of the time the 20 minute process would fail. Then I'd start it all over again. And during that time I could do nothing else on the computer. How things have changed!

@elizableu In 1995, Abuse follow up took care of 95% of matters with law enforcement back in the AOL/small ISP. We simply just spot checked .1% of email attachments and made one report to law enforcement and chose to cancel one user a month. Word got around the underworld quickly.
