  • rider45 Brian O'Keefe (@rider45) reported from Great Baddow, England

@anildash I can remember Microsoft trying to launch their own network to compete with the internet or so it seemed, I joined got an account then had to wait about an hour, via dialup, to cancel it, back to AOL it was for me.

  • sweetmax22 Maxine Sweetman-Ive (@sweetmax22) reported from Southend-on-Sea, England

@BekoUK I bought a Beko VCS5125AR Upright Vacuum Cleaner in Red from AOL 27/2/21 and in the past week it has cut out after using it for 10mins and did not restart for 20mins. Not happy. I would like it swapped for a hoover that works competently for the use it was bought for!

  • kthxsayonara 🌸TILLI🌸 @ FFXIV (ARR) (@kthxsayonara) reported from Saint Mary Hoo, England

AOL have deleted more than half of the saved emails in my inbox and now I’ve lost the email containing the serial codes for Eleanor Forte AI, Synth V Studio Pro and Natsuki Karin AI. I’ve managed to send an email to Anicute but AHS want a support number (was in a deleted email…)

@AOLSupportHelp I hate y’all for deleting an old email for my call of duty account that still get emails today. I can’t sign in because y’all delete it for not logging in.

if I could send myself a back-in-time "it gets better", it'd just be an AOL instant message that says "on Oct 27 2022, the entire internet gets ready to throw hands at Chandler for talking **** about Keanu" and that high school depression would have just evaporated away

  • MelCarnoahan Mel Carnoahan (@MelCarnoahan) reported

Y'all remember when we all download Ciara "promise" off Limewire and that **** used to say "this is a AOL exclusive" over her singing? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

  • polar_cap Brad Ginesin (@polar_cap) reported

@followtheh I thought the bad part of the deal was Time Warner accepting AOL stock as currency.

  • MattGrandis Matt Grandis 👽 (@MattGrandis) reported

@globe55trotter @HeatherThomasAF I did stay away from Usenet becaues everyone knew it was a cesspit. But I worked for AOL back in the day. The internet always had problems, but it was far, far, far from what's going on today.

  • followtheh Tom Hearden (@followtheh) reported

Paying $44 billion for Twitter is a very terrible trade but it isn't close to AOL paying $182 billion for Time Warner in pantheon of all time bad trades

  • mommyofboys4 Shelly Welcome (@mommyofboys4) reported

@MarshaBlackburn America will actually be energy independent with green energy. Why don’t you support American green energy producers? Why the push back against progress? Do you still use dial up AOL? Do you drive with leaded gasoline, use CFCs in your hairspray, spray DDT to kill mosquitos, etc.

  • armchairshrink Armchairshrink (@armchairshrink) reported

@peterC3k @Convolutedname It's been a weird long slog from AOL at 15 to newsgroups, irc, LiveJournal, Tumblr, reddit and now here I am, just a girl with a broken brain, begging someone to make me log off

  • Periwinkle_NSFW Periwinkle 🔞 (@Periwinkle_NSFW) reported

@cvrlne AOL message boards and chatrooms from ‘93 to 2002-ish. As people dropped AOL (and dial up entirely) those communities set up web forums that tried to keep everyone together. Those didn’t last long, usually because of moderation issues. Still, far healthier than social media.
