CompuServe when I first got online in 1995, MSN Messenger, the very occasional foray into Usenet. Tried AOL, ICQ, a few others. But never enjoyed them. Had both AIM and Yahoo Meseenger But only very rarely used them.

@fred_guttenberg @SpeakerPelosi Twitter seems to have a “radicalization” problem as well. I saw that years ago in AOL when I was a monitor for them.

@parlertakes Good luck with that. I was on a legal team in 1996 repping AOL when one of the first spam farm cos raised an antitrust “essential facilities” argument against AOL preventing them from spamming. Just because a service is popular doesn’t make it essential, public, or governmental.

Lets be honest, Twitter isn't even what we want. Its the best of a bad situation. We're here because we're drunk at 3am and it is the only thing open. If there was literally any other restaurant even slightly better open we'd be there. We never should have left the bar (AOL)

@ZackMorse Indeed. Oh, those pioneering days of the BBS's. Before even AOL, where there were just text-based message boards for people to chat. It was all so innocent back then. And slow....really, really slow...
