"Share your support" we used to say at AOL and people did and lots was valuable, but a deep streak of 'alternative truth' bedded down there too to solicit attention.

Literally thought the world was going to end -- then the Soviet Union Collapsed and the western world celebrated! We were full of hope and optimism for a future without the threat of global annihilation. Glam metal morphed into grunge, Goatees for all the men, and flannel on everyone. And weirdly biker shorts, plus ***** packs, doo rags, but also the rise of widely popular rap. Gen X were becoming adult -- much to our non-irradiated surprise. We'd gone from life is hopeless and pointless to life is going to continue so... now what? And what's this internet thing? The internet was inhabited by a select few who kind of had to know stuff until AOL started mailing everyone CDs to give your damn mom access. But still there was no social media -- instead spaces were organized by interests. Which allowed for communal gatekeeping, in a good way. If someone was just trolling the whole Collectable Card Game forum (for example) would boot them off. It wasn't toxic like now. (And there was still a decent chance any Keyboard Warrior would have to confront their victims IRL -- so people were just more chill).

Maybe 1-2 kids talked to each other online, but the internet shifted with AOL in '94 - '95. Seems like a ton of large companies let employees take home their old work PCs. Suspect msft/apple funded it

Rubber bands and envelopes are $7! And then they put a bunch of poisons in their products to kill us slowly and keep us dumb. Things have gone to **** since WE GOT MAIL from AOL. One of the first images we saw was **** with a horse. The world as I knew it Jumped The Shark that day. This evil has been getting bigger and better for a long time. And with the internet, they got faster. I pray to God that our Saviors and Military and Allies have this under control and that We truly are safe. God Bless us all 🙏
