CompuServe when I first got online in 1995, MSN Messenger, the very occasional foray into Usenet. Tried AOL, ICQ, a few others. But never enjoyed them. Had both AIM and Yahoo Meseenger But only very rarely used them.

@AlexNowrasteh I do remember when the animal spirits driving Amazon's stock price was cited as evidence of the coming collapse of "capitalism". There were bad bets (AOL was clearly over valued), but risks were taken and innovations occurred that no central planner would have ever authorized.

I also suggested to AOL that they make their online help files just a *tad* more specific and that would have saved me all these calls, they didn't seem to understand my point. I suppose the point is to charge people...

@kielwats0n @GarethBarkerWMS @Philip_RJ89 I’m sure I read something about the atmospheric conditions at the SOL not being conducive to the surface as they use at the AOL. Thus, the work didn’t go ahead. Problem is, we’ve got concerts coming up this summer. Even if we find a pitch surface solution, when would it be done?

@RedRedSuit I'm not sure how old you are but I was there for the period when consumer access was via Compuserve and AOL. There was a lot of money trying to make the internet a metered service.

@jetdillo @seldo yeah, I ran keyword Y2K on AOL and I expected to come back to work and write about some problems taht had slipped through, but folks had done such a good job with that time and money!
