With MSN Explorer (yes that was a thing in 2001, competing with AOL) we enabled "toast notifications" and the name was because "the little thing popped like the toast on the screensavers." Real toast never does that. It sits there. It sometimes Burns.

AOL executives believed Time Warner executives simply didn't understand the future. Instead of building one company... The two sides spent years pulling in different directions.
