With MSN Explorer (yes that was a thing in 2001, competing with AOL) we enabled "toast notifications" and the name was because "the little thing popped like the toast on the screensavers." Real toast never does that. It sits there. It sometimes Burns.

Niamh Grimes (@NiamhGrimes4) reported from Goffs Oak, England@AOL unable to sign into email for last week. No response from customer services. No one to talk to either😡😡Absolute joke. Important emails that I cannot access. AOL can you please get on to this. Beyond frustrating.

Lobster Thermidor (@scenicresorts) reportedThere was an Internet before the internet. My parents bought an IBM PS1 from sears as our first modern computer when I was in elementary school. It came with Prodigy which was like a big BBS and a free trial of Compuserve, which I think was the predecessor to AOL, both ran on dial up. I liked compuserve better because it had chat rooms but it had some heinous bill by the minute rate once you exhausted the free trial. At 8 years old the only thing that occurred to me to do with this technology was to relentlessly and nonsensically troll the chat rooms until I ultimately got banned from the entire platform. Well, a month later my mom gets a $200 bill from compuserve (I blew well past the free trial) and she calls them irate. Apparently in this call she was told I ran up the charges and btw I was also banned. She couldn’t believe this so I guess she asked why I was banned and the rep told her I was spamming their chat rooms saying “I like big breasted women” which was apparently against their terms of service and they would not be refunding anything given my behaviour. Got home from 3rd grade that day to get quite an ear full about this. But I guess I get bonus points for being banned from the internet before there even was an internet. I still like big breasted women tho you can’t hold me down.

Rock Hard & Spew Facts (@JCA_BelAir) reported@jamusp Yeah, but their servers are all still running Win2K Server and Bob lost the database passwords when AOL took them over That's really why they won't change it--Vivian in the Mail Room has them written down on a PostIt stuck to the backside of the plotter printer, but don't tell anyone. It's hilarious watching Bob grumble and act like he's not still looking for it every morning while he tries to make his coffee last him until lunch since they caught him using a 2nd K-cup but he only bought into one share of the employee coffee pool Bob's a douche. He also manages their social media accounts, btw. Just sayin'

They distribute your content and you would think something like it being on MSN or yahoo AOL different platforms like that would be a sale. Nope that is a partners and they give it to them for free so you make zero dollars off of it. I happen to me. Literally one of the worst third-party brokers out.
