No way of contacting other than email, no acknowledgement that Mail account can’t be accessed, no way of resetting password. No help at all. Disgusting.

We met in person a few weeks after nonstop phone calls and we've never been apart. I was on furlough from the airline I flew with, and I said no when they called me back. 📟 didn't work in the countries I flew to and we were inseparable by then. 30 years ago. 🩶

In my view, all frontier models will follow the path of AOL. It's moving rapidly along the same trajectory. AOL mail, chat were all massively popular; AOL's valuation went to the moon, etc. But then dedicated tools came in, and against the single focus, AOL couldn't compete. Once SpaceX launches space-based datacenters along with Starlink, the game will be up. My bet is that the harness is where the value is at. I have really zero loyalty to a particular model; I just want the highest raw intelligence with the ability to throttle down for work that doesn't need it. It's not even clear to me what Anthropic or OpenAI think is actually going to happen. I am sure they can see from their own metrics that like 95% of users are just using it as a glorified search engine. The mass does not care at all about the companies and will use whatever is best and free (i.e., ad-supported). In the long run, Google will likely win. So a true wrapper, like simply putting the API with a bit of context, will become irrelevant to higher levels of intelligence, but I don't think the frontier models can ever win against a superior harness on a really specific proprietary data pool. I am betting that people would rather have more control over their own data, be able to better direct context, and be able to use the best-performing self-healing skills with tools with the most intelligent model that is out there.

Jeff Bohren (@JeffBohren) reportedSince I have been casting aspersions on "Agile as Practiced in Nearly Every Project with a Certified Scrum Master", I should tell you about some projects I was on that worked. One on the most interesting ones was during my Network Management product development phase. I was hired by ARINC to work on software for the Iridium project. Shortly thereafter, one of the directors came up with an idea for a commercial product. He wanted a no code drag and drop UI to create a GUI to show and control SNMP values. We went to two Networld-Interop shows a year, one in Las Vegas and one in Atlanta. He wanted a new minor release for each trade show. The product owner would give the dev team a list of prioritized features. The five developers would meet and decide what we could do by the next release and worked in order of priority. That's it. Simple and effective. The code was written in C/C++ and was written to run on Windows, SunOS, HP-UX, and AIX. We used a OSS GUI library called InterViews. It integrated with HP OpenView and IBM NetView. From a business perspective, the project was a failure. We made sales, but not enough. Eventually the project was terminated an we were all laid off. That is when I was hire by AOL, but that is another story.
