  • YardleyShooting Mike Yardley (@YardleyShooting) reported from City of London, England

I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. If it doesn't work, they shouldn't take my money. @TalkTalk is a useless outfit too. I was called for months by fake Indian call centres after their data hack. My home internet sucks. @AOL @Ofcom

I’ve been with AOL all my internet life. Just recently it keeps telling me my password is wrong; I put the same password in again & it’s alright for a while. Today emails appear then suddenly vanish, is @AOL trying to dismiss me. Help!

  • thejohnjansen John Jansen (@thejohnjansen) reported from Camden Town, England

@teleject @meyerweb It kinda does though... With MSN Explorer (yes that was a thing in 2001, competing with AOL) we enabled "toast notifications" and the name was because "the little thing popped like the toast on the screensavers." Real toast never does that. It sits there. It sometimes Burns.

  • dancall Dan Calladine (@dancall) reported from Wandsworth, England

@neilperkin You'd think they could find a fix. This used to happen with all AOL accounts showing up as 'Virginia' 20 years ago!

  • lorrainemking Lorraine King (@lorrainemking) reported from Brentford, England

@NW6Rd You've just reminded me my contract is up with my absolutely appalling @SkyUK broadband. It's so slow it's like AOL dial-up

  • YardleyShooting Mike Yardley (@YardleyShooting) reported from City of London, England

Utterly useless service from AOL/Yahoo/TalkTalk yet again following my complaint reference the breakdown/failure of their systems. So irritating when you pay for a service and don't get it. I was told by a rep ref. AOL: "it's a very old platform.." as if that was an excuse. @AOL

  • xSarahSolomon Sarah Solomon (@xSarahSolomon) reported from Camberwell, England

AGREED! Every kid except me had nice shiny internet...we were stuck with that shitty AOL dialup that we were only allowed to use to play Cartoon Network games on if we were good 🥴

  • budgie Lee 'Budgie' Barnett (@budgie) reported from Richmond, England

CompuServe when I first got online in 1995, MSN Messenger, the very occasional foray into Usenet. Tried AOL, ICQ, a few others. But never enjoyed them. Had both AIM and Yahoo Meseenger But only very rarely used them.

For those of us around when the internet was born, what were some of your early entertainment sites? I was an AOL kid so I played a shitload of KEYWORD: Games ****.

  • 1tinybutshiny 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺 (@1tinybutshiny) reported

@positiveKristen @LIVEpositivity 1994 Forgot the first service, then AOL. Don’t use. Nobody had an email to email them. Met others online & emailed them first. To this day, I’ve never me them, we still exchange at least once a week. Digital friends is how we like it. It’s weird & awesome

  • JoeBirt Joe MVO 💙 (@JoeBirt) reported

@virginmedia do@I switch off my Hub 3 until Tuesday to save the electricity or do I keep@it on just in case you magically get my service to work again. I might dig out my old dial up modem and try to connect to AOL - it would be quicker than Virgin Media that’s for sure.

  • broopak Roopak Bhardwaj (@broopak) reported

None of you (Greatest Brahmans) have status to even touch my feet - forget about anything else. @PMOIndia The Apex country & people. @BrahmaKumaris first be worthy to touch my feet. Either SYs, AoL, Badrinath ppl, Kedarnath ppl or whatever crap hindus. @narendramodi

  • primarylupine 🏳️‍🌈Fluffy Wuffy🏳️‍⚧️ (@primarylupine) reported

@FOXLA You mean addressing this when it was a Vine problem, Facebook problem, MySpace problem, MSN Messenger problem, AOL problem, or dumb high-school lunchroom talk problem hasn't worked? Wonder what the real problem is... 🤔

  • BigKat209TTV Bigkat209TTV (@BigKat209TTV) reported

@comcast @XfinitySupport thats been done a million times just stop taking new customers in california you obviously can NOT handle the load. there is no reason i should be throttled on a service I pay over $100 on just cause "too many users are online" what is this AOL

  • wjmaggos William Maggot̶s (@wjmaggos) reported

@schizogoose you're sounding like somebody using AOL saying don't use a browser on the open internet, it's all crazy crap. yeah, depending on what sites you visit. and the odds of finding good **** depends on more people using it, and you're scaring them from doing so.

  • vodkasvengeance DBK (@vodkasvengeance) reported

@EthanEmerson8 That’s really weird that they never thought about doing this. I thought you still had it. So do you know how to get back an aol email? Because my friend had one but it got deleted due to inactivity and he needs it but can’t get it back.

  • lowbeyonder Kwisatz Haterade (@lowbeyonder) reported

@bmemike I don't think the overall flow suffers too much if you move, say, the Caemlyn stuff from Eye around. They'll definitely get to it. But the AoL flashback made it look like there was no War of Power and no desperate strike at SG, just LTT deciding one morning to go **** things up.

  • ec_xander Xander Eustice-Corwin (@ec_xander) reported

As soon as your crazy uncle or your drunk dad got his first AOL connection in the mid-90s and became an email enabled node in a nationwide network of nonsense, something like January 6th may have been inevitable. We used to think of misinformation as harmless. Now we know better.
