  • chrisromerlee
Chris Romer-Lee (@chrisromerlee) reported from Lambeth, England

@aolmail A family member has received the most appalling customer service from #aol. Utterly shocking. All she wants to do is reset the password as she’s been locked out & the response was effectively, go away and set up another account. She has replied, but I’m not happy.

  • bhutch41

@AOLSupportHelp Hi Guys, password prompt now so frequent; every time I open my AOL email account. Please ask your engineers to fix quickly. Thanks so much.

Open Ai = AOL circa 2000 There are so many Ai models catching up to.. and now passing Open Ai.. and ironically it’s because they are a closed source model. Their economics are fatally flawed. And they have an awful CEO. AOL was popular because people back in the 90’s people thought it was the best (and/or only) way to access the internet and email. Turned out aol was just first. Not the best or only. Just like Chat GPT. Open Ai was the first to market with Chat.. and has lived off that advantage. BUT - that is OVER now. So many Ai companies are passing Chat GPT in cost and performance… (This is why $MSFT and $ORCL are down this year,, they hitched their wagons to the wrong Ai player) Scam Altman is a charlatan and he will drive that company into the ground. $MSFT knows this now and wants out

@exQUIZitely so did AOL rent the phone lines from the telecommunications companies, or did American’s have to pay service changes on top of their AOL subscription to their phone company??

  • jay7397
    jayb (@jay7397) reported

@SunsetSentry @chucktodd It absolutely had value. They had enough money at one time to buy and merge with Time Warner. The merger ended up being a colossal disaster, but you cannot say AOL never had value.

College-age boy at the gym asked for my snap, I told him I don't use Snapchat he asked why, I said probably bc I'm 30 years old. He said "damn okay can I get your AOL?"*****.

@DavidWolfe I was always skeptical of the moon landing. I started down the rabbit hole in the very early days of the internet. I had a dial up modem, and accessed the net via an aol cd

@Ric_RTP It’s just to keep people from protesting data centers.. like all things ie. Long distance calls, cell phone minutes, AOL it will vanish or go down to being so nominal that it won’t matter.

Or AOL for that matter. Never down. People laugh at me for using my vintage address but it works.

@FunkoPOPsNews Neopets made me who I am today. Still one of the GOAT games. There was a point where it was in the top three most visited websites daily I think? Right behind AOL and Google. They weren't afraid to actually make items limited. Now every game it seems like everyone has access to everything. I was 10 years old buying out the trading post of limited edition stamps and food items that were needed to get avatars for the message boards. I'd buy out the supply, stick them in my safety deposit box for a month or two, and then bring them back out at triple the price. Some things never change.
