had to be told who shadman & lowtax are, not bc im young (im 32) but bc i was so poor i didnt have at home internet til i was 19 & i didnt hear about "something awful" until i was 25 to me old internet means rathergood, aol, & newgrounds once a week on a school computer

@_AntaBaka_ @USofRhetorica yup, but AOL offered a gate to ‚the internet‘ (winsock32.dll) which in fact was the only solution for us Dorfdeppen to connect at Ortstarif. iirc it was 1993.

I remember reading Ender's Game in 1995 when my frame of reference was AOL and my school's internal BBS. The concept of a Locke or Demosthenes coming from the Seventeen message board on AOL was inconceivable. I'm sure many of those girls are now Q, so what ******** did I know?
