  @endsult Government funded infrastructure vs human desire. How many folks today you know still have a POTS line, an AOL account, dial up or a T9 texting phone? The infrastructure is inevitably shoved down our throat. Even the dog **** (like EVs)

  @FetusberryJam Chat rooms were not really ubiquitous, I'll say. 99% of kids had no idea they existed. They were on AOL or msn messenger, or heavily moderated forums for **** like neopets

  @y_molodtsov @TrungTPhan AOL was a NY based company. For 15 years, owned by Verizon and Yahoo. I don't buy that it's suddenly more cool to work on now. It's still an incredibly poorly designed home page and a predatory subscription service with old people buying crap they don't need.

  Speaking of suing and losing, did you know that John Cardildo once sued AOL (yes, that AOL - remember he's a Boomer)? It must have been strange for him to be on the Plaintiff's side of the court. Anyhow, not only did he lose his lawsuit (he's never won in court period), but AOL countersued him and got a judgement for $90,547.95 against him. Hey Johnny Boy, did you ever pay your debts?

  @TrudoJo Since I was about the age of AOL being in its prime, I always figured I could be spied on in any amount of ways, and just accepted it. I can't stop them from fixing their reality, but they'll never do it in my Moment. I say stupid **** so much they probably got a ton. Plus they can fabricate anything they want, literally. I used to be untamed chaos barely in coherence. Now in the manner of two years I went from a gamer trolling on x in his downtime to what I've become for now. And wow that's a lot of self references, Jesus I gotta work on that tbh. 🥲 I'm my own biggest fan

  @Based_SpaceGoji Fun fact from the prehistory of the web: In the summer of 1993, when this movie came out, there were no web browsers. (Using AOL was nothing like surfing the web a few years later.) So there was no easy way to go online and look something up, and resolve a disagreement. For example... I knew at least two kids at my high school who were SURE those were pterodactyls flying away at the end. I was like, "Dude, they were pelicans. Why would the heroes be calmly watching and smiling at dinosaurs escaping the f---ing island?" But there was no way to convince them. No way to just go on a website and look it up, and show them. The fact is, before everyone had easy access to the web, life was full of really stupid little disagreements like that, especially when you were a kid. Did the kid from the Life Cereal commercials die from eating pop-rocks with Coke? Did Alfonso Ribeiro break his neck doing a headspin? For me, at least, those pelicans at the end of Jurassic Park were the last example of that particular kind of stupid argument. A year later, Netscape launched. One more thing... I always wondered if Spielberg heard stories of people mistaking those pelicans for pterodactyls, and was annoyed by it. Especially when I saw the sequel, and it ends with what is very, very clearly a pterodactyl spreading its wings in the sunlight. As if Spielberg was saying, "Here, dumbasses, THAT's a pterodactyl."

  @nowellstradamus @munric @EliteClubS0B Agreed they didn’t capitalize on knight and they’re missing out on a generational heel with Logan Paul. I stopped watching long ago but I can’t help but notice the similarities today with tko/wwe and aol time warner/wcw. It’s not good.
