@zoolegs 1. Told someone I was from Michigan and that the weather here was nice. 2. Called someone an *******. Both times I tried to lie and tell my grandma I didn't do it and both times AOL ratted me out with the receipts.

@nronharris @SteveWonderbelt @BadEconTakes I'm constantly astonished by the number of people who haven't heard "if it's free, you're not the customer, you're the product" which I believe I first heard on AOL after they dropped their subscription/billing mode.

(@)shabbybazzle: Does there have to be a common thread? I can imagine AOL and Yahoo sharing one, but eBay feels different. Note: I still use eBay (member since 1999). Never used Yahoo and used AOL and then AIM until not.

@strxwmxn @DudeBroDook That's like saying that the web is stupid because you can't build an AOL on it (BTW, I did hear this argument at the time), and AOL will of course always be more successful because it is not a bunch of different hard to use websites (it still is that).
