    Oh yes, and back in the waaaay old days (like 1994) internet services (or their closed-circuit predecessors like Prodigy, AOL, and Compuserve) charged BY THe HOUR for service. Think about how many people would stay off the internet if that were the truth today!

    You could argue Layer 1 is actually the Browser, which was more competitive than the OS btw.. I never saw Google, it was Yahoo, Alta Vista, SpeakEasy, AOL (ETH imo), Netscape, Earthlink, Hotmail, and 50 more easy

    @semperbufo @SpiderHyphenMan The ones that survived are just a microcosm of the problem, being bought out by AOL or other smaller blog conglomerates, pushing the same content out to a bunch of sites that used to cover specific beats.

    @fendien @tomloverro Don’t laugh at the AOL installed disk. I used to use it to fix windows networking if it got messed up on windows 3.1. Just try to install AOL and it fixed.
