AOL: I know you censure the comments, but now the comment section doesn't open. Whether you want to make a comment or just read the comments, it's not working. This must be your way to censure everyone in advance.

@smallfeetpetss Netscape never had the IPO or following / business model that AOL did.. I owned AOL at the IPO. Sold it at $50. Will never forget it. OpenAi will “still be around” for a long time. That’s not my point. My point is its business model doesn’t work when the competition is so fierce. The ROI isn’t tenable I bet you it’s trading 1/2 of wherever it prices in it IPO a year afterwards

Am an idiot. Meant to say Deterministic. In terms of "where in the cycle", may still be '91 to '93. Disagree with ChatGPT to Netscape comparison and instead better checkpoint is AOL moment when masses started paying for internet access. So far, 2% US households pay for AI subs.

@jrade762 @exQUIZitely The customer (you) paid for your phone line + either the hourly/monthly rate to AOL. Since connecting meant you couldn't use your phone for calls many people ended up getting a 2nd phone line (more $ to Ma Bell) until DSL lines came into play.
