Oh yes, and back in the waaaay old days (like 1994) internet services (or their closed-circuit predecessors like Prodigy, AOL, and Compuserve) charged BY THe HOUR for service. Think about how many people would stay off the internet if that were the truth today!

@SouthernGothic3 1 - never had an AOL email address. Also, still own a dictionary and an encyclopedia, have used floppy disks in the past year (to recover old data, not regularly) and still have a few vendors who prefer paper checks to plastic.

Never got an AOL account because I lived in Australia. Never got a MySpace account because my GeoCities account was well established by then. First web based social media was LiveJournal. First internet blips start way back in 1990 on usenet, (a.c.g and a.f.p)
