Oh yes, and back in the waaaay old days (like 1994) internet services (or their closed-circuit predecessors like Prodigy, AOL, and Compuserve) charged BY THe HOUR for service. Think about how many people would stay off the internet if that were the truth today!

@Drpackuc @dmarti Appalling but unsurprising. Years ago at AOL—where we had professional customer care—the checks and balances to prevent this were expensive and sometimes breached. Facebook clearly doesn’t give a damn about their custom… err, product.

i'm a classical historian. i study the aol instant messenger/msn messenger "war." aol slaughtered msn. i'll never forget those we lost... msn tried hard, letting emos put simple plan lyrics in their actual display names (vs aol's less "hxc XD" away messages) let's bow our heads

BTC I'm not sure of, ETH will go to 10% of its highs and stay there until it goes the way of AOL, the rest, well... -99.9% down. Except XLM, DOGE, FLR, XRP, ADA and a few others that will replace FB, GOOG...

@murphstahoe Good rundown - i'm a bitsurprised @amanpour didn't follow up to @profgalloway 's assertion that the twitter acquisition was the *second* worst buyout in history. what's the worst...? timewarner/aol, daimler/chrysler and msft/nokia all come to mind...
