@joangreeneaz @AOC It must have been a terrible experience for AOL! She knew about this a week before. Did she tell Pelosi? Why not? Pelosi had 6 messages regarding the riot. Did she stop the police from acting? She was the final word. Did she stop the police, guard etc from protecting the capital

  • ImTomNook ms. mendes (@ImTomNook) reported from Edmonds, Washington

Like i had a walkmam and a Avril Lavine CD and i was doing that same shit but luckily.... No video evidence... No big social media. Just some dial up internet, an AOL email.... And some memories. Lmao.

  • Gerald95051 Gerald O'Patrick (@Gerald95051) reported from Redmond, Washington

@mmasnick @DevinCow Really ancient history. We gave away free Prodigy trial offer kits at Global Village Communication 30 years ago and the most common customer reaction was “why would anyone want this?” Or “I have a Mac. I use AOL.” Now I feel old. Get off my lawn, kid.

  • 508LauraMarie Laura Marie Rivera (@508LauraMarie) reported from Seattle, Washington

@michaelharriot I can email you from the AOL account that I will never give up!

  • film_girl Christina Warren (@film_girl) reported from Seattle, Washington

Anyway, we both used that AOL account until BellSouth started up its ISP service in the fall of 1996. The password wasn’t changed and the account was active until sometime in 1998 when the county finally did an audit and canceled it.

  • shortproof Jason Short (@shortproof) reported from Kenmore, Washington

My father in law (86) tried to send an email for the first time in a while (his words). His AOL email stopped working. I had to explain that it was a service and he probably stopped it a long time ago.

  • NaFun Name cannot be blank (@NaFun) reported from Seattle, Washington

@Slate Because he's targeting people that only recently dropped the mass email fwds from their aol accounts and they're used to bad graphics.

AOL Issues Reports

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in social media:

  • Weird_Scientist Rev. Whitecoat (@Weird_Scientist) reported

@Wolven Yeah I think that the anti-vaxxers would've just been shouted down and forced to retreat to a different grift. Old school Fauci would've had much more authority on AOL-Cronkite-Net. And yeah, Hitler + TikTok...don't even wanna think about it. That's the REAL Darkest Timeline.

  • bossladyynee shanetra. (@bossladyynee) reported

My **** looking like bootleg movies waiting to clear up. I’m convinced y’all selling us the same internet and giving it new names because this loading is giving AOL vibes

  • SuperFanComShow SFCPodcast vs Being Free from this Stone Ocean (@SuperFanComShow) reported

It's officially been 4 years since AOL AIM has been shut down. In honor of it..i have a question for y all. A/S/L ?

  • levelzerozero Lvl. 00 (@levelzerozero) reported

@masculinesoul It would make more sense that it amplifies already existing issues. There's no way all but the smallest amount of mental illness only manifested since AOL free trial disks showed up in grocery stores.

  • natehowe Nathan Howe (@natehowe) reported

As a freshman, I had a hand-me-down 386 PC with Windows 3.1 in my dorm. To use the internet, I'd walk a block to the campus computer commons, where I could use AOL Instant Messenger.

  • dowoolee DL (@dowoolee) reported

    @DonaldJack123 AOL dial-up days damn

  • Jake_Catseye Nintendood Blue ~Commissions Now Open~ (@Jake_Catseye) reported

@JennaJones0123 @todd_artacc @MazingSand And my "nice laptop" is sitting the bed. It takes 5 minutes to open a picture file. And it's from 2017. The processor is crapping out and the internet is AOL dial-up slow being in the mountains. I'm working with broken tools. But I do what I can with what I have.

  • davidu David Ulevitch 🇺🇸 (@davidu) reported

@ywxwy @clangwith Indeed you were, as was I. :-) Connectivity, capability, platform, ownership, identity, etc all change, but the primitives of online community remain pretty similar. Social norms change, too. We're leaving the AOL cancel culture era, for one thing. Pseudonymity will be a norm.
