Adam Cannon (@adam_cannon) reported from Barnet, EnglandEventually answered after 1hr 17 mins on hold. Then received a further call at 2020’ rang once and u left a message. Immediately tried to return the call as requested but the office was closed!!! This is impossible @BarclaysUK

mark brimblecombe (@markbrimblecom1) reported@Barclays I’ve banked with @BarclaysUK since I was 15 — 43 years without ever being overdrawn or causing a problem. I recently received a notice that my account will be closed because I now currently live overseas. I still hold a British passport, pay UK bills, and plan to return home regularly , and intend to retire in the UK. I completely understand compliance rules, but this feels harsh after four decades of loyalty. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this now common practice for British expats? Feels like loyalty no longer counts for much in modern banking.

The website says "If you want to withdraw over £2,000, please give us 24 hours’ notice so we can make sure the money’s ready for you to collect" but branch phone numbers aren't provided. M (@M0000000000004) reported@Barclays @BarclaysUK , Worse Bank Ever ! Every day Having to Call them, >5 times in last ten days or so. They block the most redisclose of payments like to your energy provider, Or you shop for an hour in a supermarket to get to checkout and they decline your card, then block it after u check balance in a machine outside, to only then when you see you have money in there struggling to understand wtf is going on, you try remove the money then it kills the card. Every one knows how embarrassing issues like huge que waiting for me and my useless plastic. Then U have to apply new card.... "We activated the touchless payment so u can use it while you wait for new card", they say. Ordered card on 11th the card never turns up but a letter from them did. and surprise surprise u can use it in all the shops touchless other than the shops you want to use it. Great work guys..... @grok what do you make of these shenanigans, do you think a bank like this is fit for purpose ?

Nicki Schu (@NickiSchu) reported@BarclaysUK Never experienced worse service. If you are an expat considering opening a UK bank account STAY AWAY. They will close your account, take your money, and make it impossible to get it back. This is even after visiting a UK branch in person.
