@andyps1275 Some obscure freeview channel I didn’t see the name of! Quite the treat - not seen in years!

  • ascottreid Scott Reid (@ascottreid) reported

@scottygb Also - and I'm not an expert in this and I could be wrong - is there not a technical issue where it's a bad idea for too many Freeview channels to show the same thing at the same time? I'd assumed that's why BBC Three and BBC Four were off the air rather than simulcasting.

  • EastLight EastLight (@EastLight) reported

@mashcore4mums @a516digital Not sure if the small delay on BBC 1 vs News is intentionally added, or related to the feed passing through regional centres? Freeview SD pictures are poor even on "high" bitrate channels though. "Dreadful" was my initial reaction when I 1st saw DVB in 1999- this hasn't changed.

@Toughtruth5 @StGilesHighKirk Nobody had to have it on 24/7. If you did, you're stupid. I probably haven't watched 3 hours all told, because amazingly in 2022, there are lots and lots of other free channels, showing regular programmes, even without subscriptions (Freeview etc). Or maybe, just turn it off?

  • timrobi12026017 tim robinson (@timrobi12026017) reported

So poor I khan only dream freeview 😳

  • TangeMusic TangeMusic (@TangeMusic) reported

@VonBarronshire @petercrouch Because there isn't enough capacity to have more HD channels than there already are on Freeview transmitters, unless all the SD channels were shut down, and they can't do that yet as too many people still watch them.

  • youlum Uilleam 🏉 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇦🇺 (@youlum) reported

@martinetruelove Same as I use Virgin. I’m assuming of you disconnect from the internet and just use the aerial you would get the standard Freeview service but not be able to access any of the apps in the telly.

  • TomDavi8165081 Tom1871 (@TomDavi8165081) reported

@RobertsonG Thank you. I am aware of that & would put it down to that, but it started happening on the odd occasion even months ago. Strange 🤔. I retuned my freeview box to see how that goes & chose South East instead of South / Southampton, just in case.

I forgot to mention it, but the BBC have quietly re-added BBC Four HD on to Freeview after its recent axing for 5G mobile phone crap, your TV might need to be rescanned to add it. BBC News HD is still banished. #TOTP
