  • JasonDragon1975
Jason Ratcliffe (@JasonDragon1975) reported from Chesterfield, England

@Alexand85266011 @femme_uk @GBNEWS Freeview isn't very reliable for me either. I'm only 10 miles [as the crow flies] from the South Yorkshire Transmitter, yet I can only receive 6 of the 15 HD channels available. BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and CBBC. The signal quality/strength is on average 80%.

The government is considering the future of television distribution, which could affect the prospects of the digital terrestrial platform that is marketed at Freeview. and the public service broadcasters that fund it, wants to switch if off by 2034.

Can anyone from New Zealand confirm if the Freeview is down or is it just my home?

  • Matt_Q_OnX
Matt Quinn - The Caledonian Television Company. (@Matt_Q_OnX) reported

@iggy1966 @BENEFITS_NEWS They don't really, Chris... However the 'Freely' service currently being touted to replace Freeview in about 15 years time IS a streamed service which WILL be available via set top boxes/inbuilt IP provision in TV sets and probably an 'App'.

  • MisterBeergut
    Jonny (@MisterBeergut) reported

@RhianReads1 @richardosman On my Freeview box it is easy. Just ignore the channel buttons and go down to categories, then click on sport. All the choices come up there.

COMMENT: It needs an internet subscription, also an aerial for some progs, if your internet is slow you lose all progs, the manufacturers claim it's the internet problem so you cannot return the TV. It's a complete con for the companies to save supplying Freeview. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

  • TeamMPTS1
    Velvettoatone (@TeamMPTS1) reported

Another stupid idea is the 2034 plan to turn off Freeview. In no way will rural broadband be up to providing reliable services by then..the same applies to FM/MW radio. It's ridiculous meanness dressed up as 'progress' @SarahChampionMP @KarlTurnerMP @lukeakehurst

  • Aramith147

@itsGower @FionaMc79461755 @bosdovja92 Yes you do!!! absolutely need a TV licence to watch or record live TV on any channel or service, including Sky TV, Virgin Media, Amazon Prime Video, ITV, Channel 4, or free-to-air channels on Freeview or Freesat.
