  So what’s on the telly today cause Christmas Day I ended up watching the Food Network channel, that provided more entertainment than the entire freeview network.

  MILLIONS FACE LOSS OF FREEVIEW TV AFTER LOBBYING BY BBC AND ITV BACKED BODY Freeview which serves 13.6 million homes and 40 percent of UK households with more than 70 channels including BBC One ITV Channel 4 and Channel 5 could be axed after 2034 under government plans to end digital terrestrial television. Ministers are expected to publish a consultation paper within weeks setting out the path to an internet only future in the mid 2030s with the switch depending on universal affordable superfast broadband. Campaigners at Silver Voices which represents older people have launched a petition warning the move would disproportionately hit elderly low income and rural viewers who rely on aerials rather than streaming. The push is driven by The Connection Project a lobbying body funded by the BBC ITV Vodafone and BT all of whom stand to benefit commercially from moving viewers online and reducing costs of maintaining one platform. Dennis Reed of Silver Voices said the companies funding The Connection Project all have a commercial interest in moving services online and older viewers deserve better. The Connection Project responded that the transition preserves everyones right to free public service TV via broadband with subsidised costs where needed while the BBC and Department for Culture Media and Sport confirmed they are working to ensure nobody is left behind.   @inghamjj55 @TheMekon_Venus I pay towards many services out of my tax that I don’t benefit from, but I’m ok doing it because it means others can benefit. Freeview is the biggest digital platform in the U.K. - used by a lot of peoole aged 60, a % of the licence fee helps maintain that service. 1/2

  @v8oholic @AdventuresVw @Roku I record everything using a freeview box so I can skip all the advert breaks, saves lots of time. My arerial is in my loft, but I have hardwired cat6 network sockets is all rooms too, which are more stable than WiFi.

  @bmstewart2004 My mother had Sky since 1997, they kept hiking the price -nothing extra. She was paying £55 p/m for basic TV, most is free on Freeview. She cancelled. Suddenly they could slash the price. She said no — should’ve offered that before. Absolute con merchants. Never trust Sky.

  @2810jeremy @BROKENBRITAIN0 It's not the TV set we pay a license for here in the UK, it's any broadcast, BBC, ITV, CH4, CH5 and Freeview, including on-demand BBC iPlayer. You do not need a license to play games, dvds, most of netflix prime etc, that's why so many are cancelling it, we are paying for ****.

  COMMENT: It needs an internet subscription, also an aerial for some progs, if your internet is slow you lose all progs, the manufacturers claim it's the internet problem so you cannot return the TV. It's a complete con for the companies to save supplying Freeview. 🤔🤔🤔

  The date of Freeview closure will be revealed in November 2026 by the government. 1 Freeview closure in 2034 more likely 2034 because 6G mobile phone signal will kill all relay Transmitters. 2 Freeview closure in 2044 Only main Transmitters can survive until 2044. Your mobile phone is sharing the same frequency as Freeview Mobile phone Frequency UHF 49 to 69 Freeview Frequency UHF 21 to 48 The future 6G mobile phone Frequency would take most of Freeview space in 2034. Freeview Frequency in 2034 would be UHF 21 to 35 that would close all relay Transmitters
