@mrjamesob If the Gammon aren't careful, the only British values we'll have left will be brown sauce, calling Freeview "Normal Telly" and wrought iron silhouettes of a WW2 solider we're told to never forget, even though he died defending Europe, The Rule of Law, and Refugees.

  • mwoodwriting Matthew Paul Wood (@mwoodwriting) reported from Redcar, England

There's an important point to be made about internet freedom and search algorithms but I can't be bothered all that so... The internet is like Freeview now. "Do you want this crap thing you didn't ask for on CNN 1, CNN 2, or CNN extra?" 😾

Can’t believe how truly terrible EETV is. Tuning freeview channels is atrocious. Currently get 43, no BBC, ITV or any basic ones using new aerial. If it does find them they just disappear. Bedroom TV gets all the freeview ones and that’s on an old aerial in the same spot. #EETV

  • MT_Kilpatrick Michael Kilpatrick (@MT_Kilpatrick) reported

@4Viewers I updated the firmware on the Panasonic DMR-PWT550. Trying to watch Friday Night Dinner series on All4 is awful. Loads of image stalls. How to I check version of the All4 player on a Freeview Play PVR?

  • AgentC1983 Chad H (@AgentC1983) reported

@TheLordMidge @5h4k35p34r31 @guardian Amongst other routes there are plenty of freeview/sat boxes that allow access to the android App Store allowing that service to be used on a freeview certified box. It is the major funder and essentially saved the system from commercial demise.

  • tomdesborough87 Tom Desborough (@tomdesborough87) reported

@thatfoxxybloke @Monkeymanb0b What makes you think ITV, C4, C5 and other Freeview channels wouldn't add a subscription model? ITV have already dabbled with it in their on demand service. Scrapping the license fee completely could end up costing households a lot more than they already pay.

  • dazartley Darren Artley (@dazartley) reported

TV Licence: last time I checked, you couldn't watch TV without one (legally) and it was the only fee I paid for TV when I was younger. I had freeview, the fee may have funded the BBC, but it gave me access to so much more. Not bad value for me and I enjoy zero advert breaks.

  • _SeanOGrady Sean O'Grady (@_SeanOGrady) reported

@JonAshworth Pensioners like their BBC shows too. And people who live in (Tory) rural seats with poor broadband like Freeview too.

  • Craig_ADHD Craig Lester ADHD SEND Activist 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇿🇦 (@Craig_ADHD) reported

@LDNCalling The BBC maintains the Freeview network, they broadcast all over the world and their programming caters to all tastes. State Broadcasting have a mandate to provide service for free. The licence fee is only a part of the funding the BBC receives.

  • Rob_Kelleher1 Rob Kelleher (@Rob_Kelleher1) reported

@theplopster1999 That already exists - called Freeview and it’s crap with virtually no new content - that is what you’d end up with for poor people - even cheapest subscription now is nearly £300 per year

  • Bob_Bobson66 Sigmundo (@Bob_Bobson66) reported

@MattHuismanNZ @Orcon Scratch that, Freeview working now, just the other that isn't. Thanks for your help @MattHuismanNZ

  • pedroqnaranja PedroQNaranja (@pedroqnaranja) reported

@mrjamesob @NadineDorries Not to mention the upkeep and maintenance of the entire freeview transmitter network, which is also paid for by the licence fee.

  • Benson40Joseph Joseph benson (@Benson40Joseph) reported

@tonypatt2000 Not wanting to help them, just destroy everything around them & reduce their freeview content by destroying what they, the gov,t, can,t fully control. The wrinkly dorries is spinning it to try to appeal to the meakest for her own govt,s gain, shameful.
