  Dystopian. The UK gov paper for alternative and social media censorship in the name of protecting “trustworthy” news platforms makes for chilling reading. Lisa Nandy’s Dep for culture, media and sport’s censorial propositions are yet another attempt to protect the establishment from the people. Read it for yourself - “People are increasingly accessing news online, rather than through more regulated spaces like Freeview on their TV sets. This is weakening the ability of trustworthy news providers to reach audiences and shape informed public debate.” The word “trustworthy” here is Orwellian. They mean by it news acceptable to the regime. Mainstream media is not trustworthy in the eyes of the public, for good reason. “Overall trust in UK news has dropped, and only 45% of adults feel confident judging whether a source is truthful. This rise in untrustworthy news and corresponding decline in trust in news pose a risk to the public’s ability to access accurate information.” This is the fault of mainstream media. They have been blatantly biased for decades. The response to the rise in alternative media is for MSM to try and become more truthful, less biased, and honest to the public AND THEMSELVES about their bias. And certainly NOT to censor or throttle alternative media. “[Social media] makes it more difficult for trustworthy news providers to find, maintain and monetise an audience, with repercussions for the commercial viability of public interest journalism.” I.e. regime interest journalism If mainstream media is to be saved it needs to drastically improve its product, and focus on youtube and social media as outlets, it needs to adapt to the media market not try and make the media market adapt to them. How is it that they are so lacking in self-awareness? Ultimately this is a war they can’t win. The question is - how long will it go on. And what damage will be done along the way.

  @skytv got email survey re sky glass TV. Started it, but 2 long & tedious Basically love the TV, not the service Overcharged Netflix on 1st payment, never refunded despite promised Freeview much easier to use Freeview TV listings better - We're not interested in Sky channels

  @BBCLookEast With landlines becoming broadband only, and Freely starting to replace Freeview we are becoming 100% dependent on broadband. That has dangerous implications for resilence if broadband goes down, or worse if you never had adequate broadband at all.

  What happened last night? Mon aug 3? Freeview on band 4 uhf just stopped in the cm3 area. The tropo map was a bit messy, a d there was very little sporadic e showing. The blackout was total but it's all back now. Are you aware of any transmission failure? However a crucial Star Trek Enterprise episode on Sky mix at 11:00 p.m. failed to record, and retrieving it requires a Paramount subscription! @FreeviewAdvice

  Worst case scenario on That's TV channels on Freeview I'm posting this because Freeview channel 75 That's Entertainment deadline is over and nothing been broadcasting yet the deadline was on Wednesday 22nd July 2026. Freeview channel 7 & 8 That's Local channels are not affected by this. All That's channels on Freeview will be removed from the EPG without notice. The date will be on Wednesday 29th July 2026 Freeview channel 56 That's TV closed Freeview channel 65 That's TV 2 closed Freeview channel 71 That's 20th Century closed Freeview channel 76 That's 60s closed Freeview channel 77 That's 60s Manchester closed Freeview channel 78 That's 70s closed Freeview channel 79 That's Oldies closed Freeview channel 80 Manchester will close 100% on Wednesday 29th July 2026 Freeview channel 93 That's Classics closed 2 channels have already closed on Freeview Freeview channel 85 That's TV 2 closedown on 26th May 2026 Freeview channel 86 That's 20th closedown on 26th May 2026

  @mart_stead @SW18_67FC @johnrobinson07 It's not more saturated too, it's shot in a Full Range and de-converted down to Standard Range to fit in our poor freeview infrastructure, it makes red and yellows considerably crushed. That's why the Holland game looked the worse so far
