@FreeviewAdvice We have a relatively new television that, although we have retuned it, we do not get any main channels - BBC1 etc and several other channels. Could it be a receiver problem or a Freeview problem. Also takes ages to change channels. (Milton Keynes)

@mippy I assume the transmission platform side of the costs the same no matter where the content comes from. I think it’s on DAB and satellite? And Freeview? So they probably want to slim that down.

@chrisgseeger @FT This begs the question: Since you can't receive the entirety of BBC's broadcasts through generic DVB-T2 equipment (you need a special "Freeview HD" receiver), why not encrypt the service and give subscribers a CAM module to watch it? Let's see how many really want to pay for it.

@kennysmith21 @beffybadbelly No, on widely available freeview (i.e not on the local mux where tinypop lives) there are two: Pop (Arq A) and CITV (SDN), under the impression only CITV is in a similar market (age group) and is not a particularly good service… There is a reason CBBC dominates.

@MikeReadUK @TalkingPicsTV It’s a wonderful series but I struggle with it as there are no subtitles on Freeview. (Hint!) Any chance an observation by yourselves might kick such essential support into action so I can really enjoy it without missing chunks of conversation?

Is it true the BBC are shutting down Radio 4 Extra? That channel (automated jukebox of old Radio 4/2 spoken word content) costs next to nothing to keep on DAB/Freeview.

@AngelaMarston An awful decision. Can't help wondering if the BBC could have made a much better one somehow. Yes I know it will all be onlineetc but freeview has universal coverage.

@PetroPablo3 @DitsyRedOne @beffybadbelly So circumstances can't change? They may have been able to afford the TV and simply use freeview rather than paying for a service...

@JANUSZCZAK All I can say is that I used to watch it in HD about ten years ago back when I had a Sky sub, and in SD on freeview it was awful in comparison. I still have recordings of it from back then... And I do think your shows are a good example of something that benefits from HD.

@RespectIsVital @BBC I was lucky enough to have freeview throughout growing up and it's saddening that other generations won't.... Idk if this could be any help at all but perhaps a dvd player. You can get dvds pretty cheap at charity shops and library's. It won't be the same obviously but may help
