@LlamaBusiness @skytv Bailed on them last year, never looked back Unless you live in the sports channels, look at what you get for your £, then see what would be free on freeview/freesat & what is on other services like Netflix

@landeleanor People cant afford the Internet at the moment. I already said changing the cost of anything is beyond my abilities much like yours . I'm sure freeview is still available without the need for the internet maybe it could be done that way. Do you have a solution?

Sammy James (@MrSammyJames) reported
@BerishaShow But if it's a subscription service there would be no reason to keep those prohibitively expensive stations going. They would chase profits like any other business. Also, please tell me how subscription freeview TV / FM radio could work from a technical point of view?

Random Jottings of Gildersleeve (@gildy61) reported
@MrJohnNicolson @theSNP discussed how Sky would affect broadcasting in the UK. And he was fearful of Murdoch's influence. It killed off the original BSB idea with the little satellite dishes. A mini network of ITV channels though technically the latter sort've returned using Freeview/Sky's platform.

@JuliaHB1 I'm down to the weather at 5 to the hour, @RealKenBruce, odd Rugby match live, the rest on Freeview. No BT Sky etc
-
Paul Carmichael (@PCarmichaelVO) reported
@John__Northants @LucyMPowell maintenance of the Freeview transmitters and even help the security services via BBC Monitoring? Talk Radio? 🙄
-
Darren Crimes (@darrenscrimes) reported
@Porrohman @ClaireJHartnell @jamiebglover And if you genuinely don't use the freeview TV service, never see any BBC content etc etc, then you don't have to pay. Idiot.

Just Transition Wakefield (@JustTransitionW) reported
@SteB777 @GeorgeMonbiot Thinking: without the licence fee, every pensioner will have to buy a subscription service - it will completely undermine the freeview concept. Or we will be left watching ITV and Channel 4 - if that survives… Then as many point out, radio… Not an easy decision for the wise…
-
Tim Binsley #JohnsonOut (@barongreenbacks) reported
@jamiebglover It’s not just about all the BBC channels though, wonderful as they are. The licence fee also maintains the Freeview and radio network on which commercial TV and radio stations depend. The argument to defund the BBC will hurt far more than the BBC.
-
Paul Hughes (@Paulmh5) reported
@RussInCheshire These set of stats don't even cover that the licence fee pays in to support the infrastructure to deliver the "other channels" including broadband roll-outs as well as being a founding force behind Freeview. #SaveOurBBC
