jason_mi7 (@Mi7Jason) reported@WhichUK For live events, internet speed isn’t everything. For reliability and lowest delay, broadcast TV still wins: Freeview, satellite or cable. Fibre streaming is great but usually behind “live”. 5G/4G/Starlink can work well, but depend more on signal, congestion and load.

You can opt out n if you don’t do the above. So it is not a tax for simply owning a TV

Switching off Freeview would make spectrum available for 5/6G, but at the (enormous) cost of putting all that bandwidth on existing connections. Not least all the perfectly good non-smart TVs that would become E-waste overnight.

I still haven’t forgiven u @virginmedia for axing Thatstv2 and Thatstv3 at least now it’s not even on the menu wasn’t nice when u kept it up on the guide showing me what was on. Those channels r on sky & freeview
