To be honest, when you've removed the dependency of other real time tv, i cant see many people chipping in. Many will be paying just to watch their subscription service or Freeview.

@Jo2901TF @elementalvenus I have a 63 year old child who couldn't live without it - I have Sky Q so it works seamlessly with a second TV without wires so I do like it for that, plus our TV signal is very bad where we live. We can only get the BBC channels on DAB radio and our freeview doesn't have things like GB News on it as we only get the main 30 or so channels as we're on a small transmitter. We can't even get Classic FM on DAB or FM

@virginmedia someone needs to think outside the box and have backup systems, yea we have freeview via aerial, yea we have mobiles and mobile data but by having 5g sim in your hubs it would at least give those that don't have tv and Internet service working

@leethommo I suppose it was the best of a bad job, the rest of the TV schedule (especially for tight wads like me who just have Freeview) was pretty appalling. Lots probably just watch out of habit (that’s kind of what we do). It was pretty grim though.

@Lettiejp @AdeGardens @BBCNewsnight The BBC could encrypt its signals tomorrow - technically it's trivial to implement on both iPlayer and Freeview. But they continue to lie about this and to make excuses. I guess when your product is so poor, forcing people to pay for it makes sense. No-one would subscribe to BBC!

@GhostOfCorkey @DeathlyAcorn @KayBurley It was the case that radio rights came with the combined TV licence. But not anymore, except perhaps if you only listen to the radio via FreeView, satellite or cable. TVLicensing confirms this in their FAQs. What is better than BBC that you do watch please? Or just nothing live and never BBC, not even on-demand/catch-up?? --Genuinely interested.

@blackplastic8 @AdrianFaiers Tech issues make it almost impossible. Charter means progs have to be accessible to all. Millions don't even have connected tv's or internet access. You'd have to dump the Charter. Or provide free Freeview boxes to millions. Cost prohibitive. #r4today

Is there some reason only the @ITV 2 freeview signal keeps breaking up every evening? It's unwatchable and I've retuned the TV several times already.
